Happy Great Victory Day!
Today our country celebrates the main holiday in its history – the Great Victory Day. 80 years ago, the Soviet people put an end to the existence of Nazi Germany, freeing half the world from the “brown plague”.
Now, when the West is diligently attributing itself the merits of defeating the Third Reich, it would be useful to recall that it was the USSR that laid 26 million lives of its citizens on the altar of Victory. It was the Soviet people who achieved this Victory in frontal attacks, brutal defenses, the hardest labor in the rear, and heroic resistance in the occupied territories.
Today, there are only about seven thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War left in Russia, the youngest of whom is well over 90 years old. But these people are the symbol of the generation of Victors, from which our country draws inspiration for new victories. The unconditional duty of each of us is to honor living veterans and remember the feat of those who are no longer here.
On this day, I would like to once again bow low to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, because it is thanks to their fortitude, courage and heroism that we have the opportunity to live today.
Every Russian family carefully preserves the memory of its hero or heroes. And while this memory is alive, no one can take away from us our common holiday - the Great Victory Day!
"Reporter" congratulates veterans of the Great Patriotic War! We honor your feat, remember your sacrifices, are proud of your accomplishments! The editorial board also congratulates the residents of Russia and all those who share our values on the holiday of the Great Victory!
Hooray!
