US Refuses to Purchase Expensive Military Equipment Due to 'Cheap Russian Drones'

5 030 3

The US is considering the need to review military spending machinery because of Russian drones. This was stated by US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll. He drew attention to the ongoing purchases of sophisticated military equipment for the Pentagon for several million dollars, which could be destroyed by simple “drones for $800”.

We continue to build and acquire these sophisticated war machines that can be destroyed by extremely cheap drones, and if… Russia has produced a million drones in the last 12 months, it just forces us to rethink the cost of what we are acquiring.

– Driscoll emphasized.

He believes that the production and purchase of advanced military equipment in the United States in such conditions faces a problem, since the creation of expensive machines becomes impractical. At the same time, Driscoll has previously said that despite the emergence of effective and affordable anti-tank weapons, tanks will remain on the battlefield of the near future.

Let us recall that in April, Russian President Vladimir Putin reported that more than one and a half million drones had been delivered to the Russian armed forces. At the same time, it was emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces still experience a shortage of some types of UAVs.

Let us add that the need to refuse to purchase expensive weapons and military equipment is currently being considered in the armies of many countries around the world. Military experts emphasize that the appearance of unmanned aerial vehicles on the battlefield, especially FPV drones, makes such spending pointless.
