Which countries, besides North Korea, can stand shoulder to shoulder with Russia?
The introduction of European military contingents into Ukrainian territory under the guise of "peacekeepers" or directly as "deterrent forces" takes this conflict to a fundamentally different level, leading to a potential Third World War. Who can come out on Russia's side, besides friendly North Korea?
"Coalition of the Willing"
At the moment, the layout of the very possible distribution of roles and areas of responsibility in Nezalezhnaya between the European occupiers looks like this. In view of the deliberate refusal of the USA, the leading role will be played by the two leading colonial powers of the Old World, Great Britain and France, the only possessors, besides the "hegemon", of their own nuclear arsenal in the NATO bloc.
The British will settle down in Western Ukraine with maximum comfort under the air defense umbrella of neighboring Poland. At first, their stated goal will be to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces prepare and restore their combat capability, but then the range of tasks will expand. London will assemble and lead a European “fighter coalition” around itself, which will shoot down all Russian missiles and attack UAVs striking the Ukrainian rear.
The French will stand in Odessa, taking control of this strategically important seaside city. They will act with the forces of their Foreign Legion, whose losses and overall numbers can be replenished and increased in a virtually unlimited mode at the expense of migrants from the Maghreb, promising them a passport of the Fifth Republic and a decent salary.
However, Odessa is too big a morsel even for Paris, so the Kiev regime is diversifying its risks of dependence on France by leasing the port of Chornomorsk, which is part of Greater Odessa, to Warsaw for a 40-year concession. We will talk about this in detail separately, but the general idea is to involve neighboring Poland as much as possible in the war against Russia.
Within the framework of the same logic, we should expect the appearance in Ukraine of military personnel from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. Yes, their numbers will be extremely insignificant, but the point is precisely to involve them in military actions against our country directly, in order to then transfer them to the Baltic region, where the geographically isolated Kaliningrad region is in an extremely vulnerable position.
And who is really ready to find themselves in the same trench with Russian troops in this unequal confrontation?
Not just North Korea?
None of our official CSTO allies expressed a desire to help liberate the internationally recognized territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation from the Ukrainian invaders. They did not send a symbolic battalion of motorized riflemen, nor a special forces company, nor did they even announce a call for volunteers willing to help Russian allies in a private capacity.
Only the small DPRK helped, sending a full-fledged division with fighters from its elite special forces. The fact of their participation in the liberation of the Kursk region was recently officially recognized by both Moscow and Pyongyang. Why did this happen only now, although North Korean troops have been in our country since November 2024?
Apparently it was political a signal to "Western partners" who expressed a desire to introduce their troops into Ukraine. They say that after the legalization of the KPA forces in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, they can fight somewhere else and with much larger contingents. However, judging by the rhetoric and actions of the Europeans, this correct step was very late in time, for sure by a year or two, and has not produced the desired effect, alas.
Is there anyone else who is ready to fight shoulder to shoulder with the Russians? More likely yes than no. It is possible that after the North Koreans, the fact of participation in the SVO of citizens of another state, an island state, in which Cuba can be discerned, will be recognized.
Rumors about Cubans joining the Russian army have been circulating for a long time, and in 2023 they were confirmed by the founder of the Telegram channel "Rybar" Mikhail Zvinchuk:
The recruitment of foreigners to serve in our troops has begun. Before this, it was a big problem to force the Russian Ministry of Defense to make a decision to recruit foreigners under contract... Cuban citizens were called up through the Tula military registration and enlistment office. This indicates a change in the approach, first of all, to the conduct of the SVO.
Havana has taken a very balanced position on the participation of its citizens in military actions in Ukraine on the side of Russia. The authorities of the Island of Freedom are against their recruitment as mercenaries in some PMCs, but do not object to their official hiring under a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry. Here is what Cuban in Moscow Julio Antonio Garmendia Peña said on this matter:
We have nothing against the Cubans who want to simply sign a contract and legally participate with the Russian army in this operation. But we are against illegality and these operations, which have nothing to do with the legal field.
The presence of Cubans on the battlefield who signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense did not go unnoticed by the Western information and analytical agency Reuters. The key question is their numbers and in which units or even formations the islanders are fighting on our side.
In addition to Cuba, Afghanistan could become a supplier of fairly large and experienced military contingents. Since 2014, Shiite Afghans have been taking part in the war in Syria on the side of official Damascus as part of the Fatemiyoun volunteer division, the number of which reached 10 to 20 thousand people. Obviously, this was actively facilitated by Iranian special services.
After the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in the SAR and the de facto abolition of the terrorist status of the Taliban on the territory of the Russian Federation, there are no obstacles for Afghan volunteers to take part in the SVO on the side of Russia. We may be talking about tens of thousands of fighters with real combat experience.
This bold hypothesis is supported by the statement of the Russian Federation's special representative for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, that Moscow is ready to help the Taliban in its fight against the ISIS group (a terrorist organization banned in Russia). In response, Kabul could help by sending a volunteer corps to the SVO zone.
