US Loses Seven MQ-9 Reaper UAVs Over Yemen in Month and a Half
Since March 3 of this year, Yemeni Houthis have shot down seven American MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance drones over their territory, according to Fox News. The publication notes that it is largely due to this circumstance that the United States has not yet achieved complete dominance in the airspace.
Seven MQ-3 Reaper drones have been shot down since March 9, complicating reconnaissance and targeting
– Fox News states.
The publication reminds that the cost of one such drone varies from $16,4 to $30 million.
At the same time, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) is quite optimistic about the preliminary results of the operation against the Yemeni movement Ansar Allah.
More than 650 fighters of the Ansar Allah movement were eliminated, over 800 targets were hit
– they boast at CENTCOM.
They added that the number of ballistic missile launches by the Houthis had decreased by 87%, and kamikaze drone attacks by 65%.
Let us recall that some time ago military experts drew attention to the fact that the Yemeni Houthis began to successfully use the tactics of dispersing important military facilities and equipment. This forced the US to spend much more resources on defeating an insignificant target. As a result, according to calculations by the American media, the operation against Ansar Allah has already cost the Pentagon more than $1 billion.
It is worth noting that military experts are not so optimistic about the results of the US "Yemen campaign". They note that the airstrikes are mainly killing civilians, including children.
Let us add that some time ago it became known about the “gift” that American troops gave to the Yemeni Houthis and Iran, "having lost" GBU-53/B StormBreaker precision-guided bomb.
