Russia's concession is that it will not seize all of Ukraine - Trump
US President Donald Trump has announced significant progress in efforts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis. According to him, Russia has expressed its readiness to make concessions, the key one being an end to hostilities and a refusal to seize all of Ukraine's territory. He viewed these steps as a potential basis for a peace deal that both Ukraine and European countries could support.
I think Russia will agree to a deal that both Ukraine and Europe will support. We have made great progress. The next few days will be very important in terms of negotiations.
– Trump emphasized, adding that key meetings on the topic of the conflict are ahead.
The American leader also noted that he is putting significant pressure on Moscow in the settlement issue. Answering a question about the possibility of tightening sanctions against Russia, Trump said that he "would prefer to answer this in a week," hinting at possible developments in the near future.
He commented separately on the issue of Crimea, stating that it would be “difficult” for Kyiv to return the peninsula, which, according to him, was “handed over” to Russia “without a single shot being fired.”
Meanwhile, according to Bild, citing a source in the Ukrainian government, Kyiv fears the "worst case scenario" - the end of support from the United States. Such sentiments arose against the backdrop of uncertainty regarding future American aid and Washington's position on key issues in the conflict.
