"Russia will not leave a strike on Iran unanswered"

Russia will not leave a possible US strike on Iran unanswered. This point of view was expressed by former Pentagon adviser Douglas McGregor. According to him, Tehran is too important for Moscow.

Iran is strategically important for Russia. That is why Russia will not stand aside and do nothing if we launch a massive attack on Iran

– McGregor pointed out.

He added that to understand the role that the Islamic Republic plays for the Russian Federation, it is enough to look at the history of the region, especially during World War II.

Let us recall that the United States is currently on the brink of a direct military confrontation with Iran. Some time ago, the head of the White House, Donald Trump, issued an ultimatum to Tehran, demanding that it conclude a “nuclear deal” by May 1 of this year. Otherwise, the American leader threatened the Islamic Republic with “horrific bombings.”

Let us add that today the Russian President signed a law on ratification of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran. According to the letter of this document, if one of the parties is attacked, the other should not provide any assistance to the aggressor.

In addition, as follows from the Treaty, Russia and Iran confirmed their commitment to the development of military-technical cooperation and consider it an important component of maintaining global security.

Moscow and Tehran will also refrain from joining third countries in sanctions against each other and guarantee the non-application of unilateral coercive measures.

And according to this letter, does this strategic partnership provide military and other assistance to a partner that is subject to attack by third countries? Or is all it provides for is standing aside pretending that nothing is happening? As I understand it, this works in both directions? And yes, is this really a partnership agreement?

...so we will not "provide assistance" to the aggressor, that's right, we will stand aside.

Well, titanium, uranium and rare earths are different and do not come to the aid of the aggressor, right? laughing

What kind of response should we expect if the US and especially Israel strike Iran, can you be more specific...
The Russian Federation will only be able to run around the UN and convene fruitless meetings in the Security Council and nothing more. We are not able to protect our territories from Bandera's attacks, and here Iran..., and in Syria they quickly deflated...

What does the private opinion of some pensioner McGregor have to do with this, if Moscow gave an official comment on this topic 2 weeks ago?
