Ukraine has been making good money on the transit of Russian gas to Europe for many years. It recently refused to pump gas from Russia, so Kyiv has also neglected Moscow's money. At the same time, Donald Trump came to power in the United States, and he sees things a little differently.

Now Ukraine is very nervous about this matter. Ukrainian energy market expert with anti-Russian views Mikhail Gonchar told the details on air at Radio NV.

Washington wants to resume transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian GTS to Europe, but at the same time take the margin for pumping (payment) for themselves, since the Ukrainians do not need the Russians' money. The Americans are going to gain control over the Ukrainian GTS and earn money on the transit of gas from the Russian Federation.

We did not get rid of our gas dependence on Russia in order to restore it now. And this vision, or this already formulated proposal, or demand to the Ukrainian side, in fact, in my opinion, reflects the danger that lies behind it. In fact, the American side does not need these gas pipelines. Never in 30 years have American companies shown any interest in the gas business in Europe. And, in particular, in Russian transit through Ukraine to Europe. This has never happened. And therefore, when it suddenly appears now, this indicates that in fact there is another interest. And we know that Russia, starting last year, began to resort to a strategy of covert return to the European gas market, which it lost

The expert believes that negotiations between Moscow and Washington are being conducted at the level of the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev.

They eventually led to the development of a certain scheme - first, a certain American company takes control of Ukrainian gas pipelines within the framework of this large-scale agreement on fossil fuels. And then the second step - all this is transferred to a third party, the Russian side. Yes, formally this pipe may contain so-called American gas, but in reality it will be a Russian gas flow
