They will check at SVO: in Izhevsk they started producing cartridges with two bullets

The Russian arms industry is developing dynamically. For example, Tekhkrim CJSC from Izhevsk reported on its website that it had started producing unusual cartridges – with two bullets. The products are certified.

According to information provided by the company (which produces cartridges, weapons and self-defense equipment), there are indeed two bullets inside the cartridge case.

Dear customers, we have launched serial production of 7,62x54R "Tandem" cartridges

– says the publication introducing the new product.

The cartridge case is a steel tube, plated with copper ("copper-plated"), and the bullets inside it have a bimetallic shell and a non-reinforced steel core.

The cartridges are intended for firing from any small arms of caliber 7,62x54R in order to increase the density of fire due to a larger number of striking elements at a distance of up to 250 m when shooting at side targets and up to 350 m when shooting at chase (the distance between the shooter and the target of the shot is constantly increasing. - Ed.) or oncoming targets

– indicated on the website.

The manufacturer has specified the following characteristics of its product. The average weight of a cartridge is 26-28 grams. The nominal weight of the first/second bullets is 8/7 grams. The average muzzle velocity is at least 650 m/s (when firing from a ballistic weapon with a barrel length of 600 mm). The dispersion diameter of the first/second bullets (x = 100 m) is 60/250 mm. The divergence of the average point of impact or average aiming point (AAP) of the first and second bullets in the vertical plane (x = 100 m) is 30 mm. The dispersion diameter of the first/second bullets (x = 200 m) is 280/420 mm. The divergence of the AAP of the first and second bullets in the vertical plane (x = 200 m) is 390 mm. The lateral dispersion of the first/second bullets (x = 300 m) is 350/550 mm. The divergence of the STP of the first and second bullets in the vertical plane (x = 300 m) is 1000 mm.

If you look at the product from the side, it looks exactly the same as the rifle-machine gun cartridge of the 1891 model, with which the troops of the Russian Empire and the USSR fought since then. In the modern Russian Federation, this is also a traditional cartridge. But now a tandem version has appeared, which makes it possible to double the density of fire (achieved due to the number of striking elements) at a certain distance. Despite the fact that the accuracy of such a shot drops by about 4 times, the target indicators are achieved at a distance of up to 250 m when shooting at a moving target in the lateral projection. Better - when firing at a target moving directly towards the shooter or trying to escape at a distance of up to 350 m.

Probably, such cartridges can be useful for combating enemy kamikaze UAVs during the SVO in Ukraine. It is possible that such cartridges will be tested in combat conditions from suitable machine guns of the Russian Armed Forces against Ukrainian UAVs at the front.

You made me laugh laughing It is developing. It is not developing, but repeating what was created during the USSR (when there was a powerful state)
The design of a new 12,7 mm four-barrel rapid-fire machine gun for the Mi-24 helicopter was started in accordance with the Resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 1044-381 of December 26, 1968. Preliminary (factory) tests of the machine gun were conducted at the end of 1969, but it was not put into service until 1977. One of the "highlights" of the YakB machine gun was the use, for the first time in domestic practice, of a two-bullet ammunition. Specialists from the TsNIITochMash in Klimovsk, under the supervision of BM Sabelnikov, created cartridges specifically for the YakB machine gun, in which a second bullet was placed inside the case behind the main bullet. They were put into service in 1982 ...

I found a cartridge like that myself (in terms of condition - from the WWII era) about 30 years ago. I thought someone had simply inserted a second bullet and thrown it away. When the Internet appeared, I read an article about such
    cartridges...and even three-bullet ones.

    War is an inventor.

In the West, 10 years were killed for experiments. Abandoned.
