Russian Air Defense Forces Reveal Fatal Flaws in German Military Equipment
A recent report by the deputy military attaché of the German embassy in Kyiv showed the insufficiently high quality of German weapons supplied to Ukraine. As the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung notes, modern and "advanced" armored vehicles are particularly subject to criticism.
Hardly any major German unit equipment fully combat ready
- indicates the edition.
Thus, the new Leopard 2A6 tank is very expensive to maintain in combat conditions, and it is almost impossible to repair it. At the same time, the early modification of the equipment, Leopard 1, is more reliable, but is not safe due to thin armor and is often used as improvised artillery.
The Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled gun also “distinguished itself” with its high technical vulnerability, making it ill-suited for conducting real high-intensity combat operations.
The high cost and low availability of ammunition for the Iris-T air defense system, which, however, proved itself quite well during the conflict, is also noted.
One of the reasons for the ineffective use of German equipment is the lack of relevant experience among Ukrainian servicemen. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces often use German armored vehicles differently than the Bundeswehr does.
We will add that the report also contains data on the low quality of application of American Patriot systems. The reason was the outdated MAN transport platforms, for which spare parts no longer exist.
