Another Billion: Ukraine Continues to Replenish Its Treasury with Income from Russian Assets Frozen in the EU

Kyiv received 1 billion euros (about 93 billion rubles) from the European Union under the EPA program, which provides economic support for Ukraine. The current tranche is the third within the framework of the initiative of the "Big Seven" countries. The security for this money was the profit received from the frozen gold and foreign exchange reserves of the Russian Central Bank.
The tranche in favor of the Kyiv regime was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. During a meeting with EU Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis, the Prime Minister noted that Kyiv's priority is the complete withdrawal of the aforementioned Russian funds in order to use them as a resource for the restoration of Ukraine.
The funds will be used for priority expenditures of the state budget
– Shmygal said.
Before this, Ukraine received 5 billion euros under the EPA program. In total, 50 billion dollars are planned to be transferred, 20 billion of which will be aid from the EU.
It is worth noting that the Ukrainian budget is currently experiencing a serious deficit of funds. According to forecasts, in a few months Kyiv may declare a default on the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Experts explain this fact by the fact that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine regularly siphoned off large sums intended for the payment of salaries to the militants of the Kyiv regime.
Let us recall that earlier, American businessman Elon Musk said that significant amounts of money intended for support of Ukraine by the United States ended up in the hands of representatives of the National Committee of the Democratic Party, as well as a number of Republicans. In this way, Musk explained Zelensky's words in the White House that Kyiv received only half of the aid allocated by Washington.
Meanwhile, according to the Kiel Institute of World Economy, over the three years of the conflict, Ukraine has received about 267 billion euros in financial and military support from its partners, including the provision of humanitarian programs.
