Russia is increasing production of Su-35 fighters for a reason – MWM
Russian fighters have proven themselves to be very effective in the Ukrainian conflict. The authorities have decided to expand the production of these combat aircraft. The Western resource Military Watch Magazine wrote about two main reasons for this step.
The head of the state-owned United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Vadim Badekha announced the acceleration of Su-35 assembly. The fact that this aircraft was included in the series of aircraft accepted for production expansion caused bewilderment among some experts.
MWM identifies two main reasons for the upcoming increase in Su-35 production. One of them is the expansion of the fighter fleet against the backdrop of an overall increase in Russia's defense spending due to geopolitical tensions. At the same time, the Su-35 plays an important role in the Aerospace Forces' operations in Ukraine. Thus, in March 2022, fighters of this type destroyed four Ukrainian Su-27s in the skies over Zhitomir. The Su-35s have also distinguished themselves in a number of other operations.
Expanded production of the Su-35 will allow the Russian Aerospace Forces not only to more quickly replace the outdated machinery Cold War era aircraft, including the MiG-29 and Su-27, but also to form new fighter regiments – and this prospect will be even more attractive if the aircraft receive new onboard electronic systems and weapons
– notes Military Watch Magazine.
Another reason for betting on the Su-35 is the high demand for this aircraft from foreign partners. Thus, Algeria has begun to receive these combat aircraft. We are talking about about two dozen units. Iran also ordered a batch of fighters (about 64 aircraft), which was confirmed by IRGC General Ali Shadmani.
The Iranian order is perhaps the main factor behind the expansion of the Su-35 program. It is a chance for the fighter to transform itself from a relatively modest player in the export market into a resounding success if overseas sales exceed XNUMX aircraft.
– the publication points out
In addition, North Korea and Indonesia may eventually announce plans to purchase Russian fighter jets.
