Russian aviation industry reaches new level

38 749 22

On March 31, 2025, on the birthday of the outstanding aircraft designer Sergei Ilyushin, the first flight of the third prototype of the Il-114-300 aircraft with all-Russian TV7-117ST-01 engines took place. The tests were successful - the crew confirmed the stable operation of all systems.

The modern modification of the Il-114-300 features a number of design improvements. The redesigned wing geometry has increased the stability of the aircraft in flight, and the modernized power plant with the AV-112-114 propeller provides 3100 hp with increased fuel efficiency. The developers paid special attention to operational characteristics - the aircraft is capable of operating on unprepared sites, including dirt and snow-covered airfields.

In parallel with the Il-114-300, the Russian aviation industry is working on other promising projects. Upgraded versions of the SSJ-100 with PD-8 and MS-21 engines with PD-14 are already being tested. Assembly of the prototype of the regional aircraft "Ladoga" is expected in the near future. To support these programs, the production base is actively developing: new domestically produced CNC machines are being introduced, modern test complexes are being created, including a wind tunnel for icing research.

After the current projects are launched into series production, aircraft manufacturers plan to focus on creating a new wide-body long-haul airliner. The concept involves the use of advanced PD-35 engines, which are already being developed. The new aircraft should combine the requirements of civil airlines and special state carriers. It will likely be based on the modernized Il-96-400M platform, which requires significant modifications to install more powerful units.

The development of domestic aircraft manufacturing demonstrates a systematic approach - from upgrading existing models to creating fundamentally new models of aircraft. Successful tests of the Il-114-300 confirm that the Russian industry is capable of solving complex problems even in such difficult times. technological tasks and provide the country with modern aviation equipment.

Russian aviation industry reaches new level

Empty bravado and chatter! When these products are mass-produced by airlines, then we will be able to talk about a new level of the aviation industry.

We can talk, boast and pass off wishful thinking as reality. But when it comes to action, it doesn't work out so well. We constantly postpone deadlines, find and explain it with dozens of reasons. We pass off the test flight of the IL-114, an aircraft developed and manufactured 40 years ago, as some kind of outstanding achievement and a "new level". The PD-14 engine, which has been developed for about twenty years and hyped up as modern and almost superior to the best foreign analogues, which should be installed on the "unique" MS-21 aircraft, turns out to need revision at a cost of 14.2 billion rubles, since it turned out that its performance characteristics are inferior in fact to those declared in the project and foreign engines. And the technical characteristics and capabilities of the MS-21 itself turned out to be far from what was planned and declared. And it will also have to be revised, and also with state money, of which a huge amount has already been spent on this aircraft. Therefore, we are still far from any "new levels" in aviation and not only in it. Our officials and people involved in aviation management must first learn how to organize the work entrusted to them, responsibility for their work and, most importantly, the desire and ability to do it.

At first I read that it was the auto industry. laughing
    Although both are somewhere nearby.

Will the Il-112 be revived or is it all buried along with the test crew?

It was stated that by 30 they would produce a thousand planes. Then they cut it down to five hundred, and now they say it might be possible together with small aircraft by 30...
      Obviousness.

There are levels higher than the current state of the domestic aviation industry, and there are lower. What level have we reached?

The Il-114 is a Soviet and Russian turboprop short-haul (regional) passenger aircraft developed in the 1980s by the Ilyushin Design Bureau.

    80's! 40 years ago!

takes it to a new level

    - are these "Putin's galoshes" developed 40 years ago in the USSR?

What, 40 years ago, under Putin, galoshes were developed in the USSR?

This is the price of creating new aircraft. Why did you abandon production? Will foreign countries help us?

There is a start and it will go faster from here. Competencies have been restored and enterprises have been re-equipped or new ones have been built. There are specialists and they are training. Good luck to the Russian aviation industry.

I understand everything, but there was information that the TV7-117ST-01 engine (02 on the IL-112) is not very good, there were even thoughts of installing the PD-8. But still, the PD is too powerful. And how can passengers board the IL-114, remembering the fate of the IL-112 with the same engines? If nothing is changed now, then all the problems will remain forever. And over the years, problems can develop into very significant consequences. Or is everything ok and the engine is good?

Borisich. You have fallen behind in tracking the information. The engine has been improved, something has been changed structurally (I can write, but this is generally for specialists) and has completely passed all checks and tests. So don't worry. Now it is already being tested on the plane. . More precisely, the certification of the plane has begun. Will it pass? It will go into serial production.

Regarding the IL-112. Haven't enough testers crashed into aircraft while testing new technology, both here and around the world? These people know what they're getting into and what to expect during flights. That's their job. Especially since both the new aircraft and the engines were tested, together, so to speak. And also, so that there is no misunderstanding. Before a test flight, the crew decides for themselves whether to fly or not. No one can force them to do this if there are any obstacles and the crew is not sure of the outcome of the flight. Even the president himself, as commander-in-chief, cannot order them to do this. If the crew knew that there were problems with the engines, they could have easily refused to take off. But once they decided to take off and took off, they took full responsibility for the outcome. Tests are tests. So blaming someone is unnecessary.

The issue is probably not the lag in information, but that locals are more inclined to savor any problem of the country. None of them noticed that our planes have an almost unprecedented localization. And this is a very tense state, because as a result the total number of people employed in the project decreases, with all the ensuing consequences... And in general, the group of feeble commentators is more like the guests from the censor, in all matters the one who kicks the state harder gets the greatest support... There is no point in explaining anything to such people, they are like those... who will find dirt everywhere.

          Unprecedented localization!!! Wow..
The steam went locally into the horn??? laughing
And passengers flew away on imported planes and this has been going on for decades...
But don't rock the boat, everything is fine, ..
Well, to stick an insult - you are the ones who will find dirt everywhere.

Well, well, why not earlier? And when will the An-3 and Yak41 go into production?! And the Il-96 with a Western BPEO and engine was not planned in the 1990s?! What have they been doing all this time, what have they been thinking?!

The successful testing of the Il-114-300 confirms that Russian industry, even in such difficult times, is capable of solving complex technological problems and providing the country with modern aviation technology.

It is capable of providing it!!! But 85% of the fleet is imported, mainly Boeing and Airbus...but it is capable.
Cognitive dissonance - capable of solving the most complex problems... but in fact is not capable and depends on imports.

If Ladoga is given into the capable hands of the owner of UZGA, then it will 100% face the same fate as Baikal.
Something like "there's no money, but you hang in there. All the best to you."

Where exactly were they restored? They promised to release 2024 Tu5 in 214. But they released, as in the previous 20 years, only one. A year before that, they made 1 piece 160 from old stock.
We have been told about the "almost import-substituted" MS21 for 10 years now
