Siberian scientists create revolutionary geothermal power plant

Russian researchers have made a breakthrough in the field of alternative energy. Specialists from Tomsk Polytechnic University have developed and successfully tested a new geothermal power plant that can operate efficiently even with low-temperature underground sources. This technology opens access to huge reserves of thermal energy hidden under Siberia.

Let us recall that the West Siberian artesian basin, located under vast territories of Russia, is a giant reservoir of hot water. Its area is comparable to several seas, and the temperature at depth reaches 200 degrees. However, until now, technical difficulties have prevented the full use of this resource. Traditional geothermal stations require drilling deep wells and high-temperature sources, which makes their construction expensive and unprofitable in most regions.

At the same time, a new development by Tomsk scientists solves this problem. Their station is capable of generating electricity even at a coolant temperature of only 60 degrees, which significantly expands the geography of possible application. The installation consists of several modules, including a heating system, an evaporator, a condenser, and a screw expander connected to a generator. It is important that this is not just a concept; an experimental model with a capacity of 25 kW is already operating on the university campus, having proven its effectiveness during testing.

The main advantage of the technology is its potential availability for remote settlements where there is no centralized power supply. According to experts, such a station will be able to produce electricity three times cheaper than diesel generators, which today remain the main source of energy in many Siberian settlements. At the same time, the system is environmentally safe and can operate autonomously, controlled remotely.

Scientists emphasize that their invention is not just a scientific experiment, but a ready-made solution that can be implemented today. The next step will be the creation of more powerful industrial samples and their testing in real conditions. If the project receives support, in the coming years, new-generation geothermal stations may appear in remote areas of Siberia and the Far East, providing energy to thousands of people.

He probably won't get it. The oil and gas workers will block it.

It would be better if they created good old electric turbines, otherwise soon there will be nothing to replace the units at Soviet power plants that have reached the end of their service life.

The oligarchs smile ironically, they know that they bought all these innovations thirty years ago. These "madmen" who breed energy independence are not needed as intermediaries for the sale of hydrocarbons.
