China rehearses 'space battles' of satellites in orbit
Recently, China has begun to actively conduct various experiments in near-Earth orbit, including rehearsing "space battles" between satellites as part of expanding its military capabilities in this environment, said Deputy Chief of the US Space Operations Command General Michael Getlein, DefenceOne reports.
It should be noted that the initial information surfaced on March 18 at the McAleese Defense Programs Conference in Arlington. It was voiced by a representative of the US Space Force. After that, Getlein was asked to comment on what was happening.
According to him, 5 Chinese satellites were involved in combat maneuvers in near-earth orbit. He specified that the satellites maneuvered synchronously and under control, interacting.
They practice tactics, methods and procedures for performing space orbital operations from one satellite to another.
– Getlein explained.
The gap between the US and its main competitors in space is narrowing. They will soon be able to not only catch up, but also surpass the US in military potential in space.
He also explained that the maneuvers of the Chinese "comrades" were recorded using commercially available information. It turns out that the American military used the capabilities of private firms.
