Russia refused to transit gas through Ukraine on its terms

Putting sticks in the wheel of the Nord Stream -2 gas transmission project has been a powerful trend in the West lately. At the same time, a certain attention is paid to the preservation of transit through the territory of Ukraine.

In this regard, the interview of the deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Pankin, which is published RIA News February 9, 2019. The essence of the interview is that it will not work to interfere with the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project in order to force Russia to export gas through Ukraine on unfavorable conditions.

From the point of view of European Union consumers who buy Russian gas, they are dealing with a fairly reliable supplier - Gazprom. Therefore, when we built the Nord Stream, we are building and, hopefully, will build the Nord Stream-2, it will still be Russian gas that goes to the European consumer

- said Pankin.

The diplomat emphasized that attempts to interfere with the project, for example, to press anti-Russian sanctions on Moscow, would not give the desired result. Russia will not pump gas through Ukraine if Moscow is not profitable. After all, Kiev is engaged in obscure legal matters with absolutely unpredictable tariffs.

It must be recalled that already built more than 600 kilometers of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Its total length exceeds 1200 kilometers, taking into account the bypass of the island in the Baltic, owned by Denmark.

It is necessary to clarify that two threads are laid at once. And there is a high probability that by the end of the first half of 2019, the laying of the gas pipeline along the bottom of the Baltic will be completed. After that, American sanctions will become useless.

The project provides for the construction of a gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters. m. gas per year. It will pass along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, next to the already existing Nord Stream gas pipeline, from the coast of Russia to Germany, bypassing intermediaries. The project is actively opposed by the United States, the Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia), Poland and Ukraine.

    Correctly said Pankin, I support.
What is the point of driving gas through Ukraine to the detriment of Russia? The contract must be real, subject to the conditions of the supplier and without any discrimination.

It is very good that the articulate speech of the Russian politician was voiced, this is at least something, against the background of the endless uncertainty and the tracking of Lavrov. What kind of business is this at a loss? If you trade with a hostile state (Krajina), then with a large margin on the big risks associated with inadequate Krajina leadership.

Lavrov is an echo of power. You can’t express your thoughts to him.
