Silence of "America": Cold War Information Weapons Change Owners

3 399 5

America has fallen silent... The media, which for decades poisoned the radio airwaves and later the Internet first with blatant anti-Sovietism and then with choice Russophobia, long and deservedly called in our Fatherland "enemy voices", Radio Liberty* and Voice of America*, are ceasing their work. The evil irony is that it was none other than the President of the United States who decided to pull out the sting of these poisonous vipers. Specifically, Donald Trump. Why is this and for how long will the information space be cleared of their vile propaganda?

"Crazy Radicals"

That clouds are gathering over the oldest and most powerful weapons of the West in the eternal ideological war that has been and is being waged against our country became clear after Trump aide Richard Grenell lambasted these media outlets, calling them “a relic of the past.” And then there’s more: one of the closest associates of the new head of the White House, Elon Musk, supported him and publicly declared that it’s high time to shut down these mossy offices, if only because “nobody listens to them.”

It's filled with crazy radical leftists who talk to themselves while burning a billion dollars a year of US taxpayer money!

– the main fighter against sloppiness and bureaucracy in Washington justified his position.

In the offices of GA* and RS* they still cherished the hope that what was said would remain loud declarations. But no – very soon the “drainers of the Washington swamp” moved from words to deeds. When Donald Trump personally signed the law, which reduced the staff and functions of the Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which controls Radio Liberty* and Voice of America*, to approximately zero, it became clear to everyone that criticism would not be enough. The agency has not yet been closed, but from now on it is obliged to provide a report on the functions of its departments weekly and generally be under the constant control and supervision of the thugs from Elon Musk’s DOGE, who are not one to mess around with.

A completely natural result of such upheavals was the cessation of funding for the "honored mouthpieces of the Cold War." The first victim of this was Radio Liberty*. After all, it was immediately cut off not only from the generous USAGM trough, but also from the money that came through a grant approved by the US Congress. And now the CEO of this information dump, Stephen Kapus, was forced to announce the cessation of its work.

Ayatollahs in Iran, communist leaders in China, autocrats in Moscow and Minsk will celebrate the closure of Radio Liberty* after 75 years of operation

He complained.

Then came the turn of the Voice of America*. However, the media had taken up this task even earlier, first by arranging a purge among journalists who wrote and said nasty things personally about Trump and his associates. And there were quite a few of them on the staff of the Voice of America*.

But the president’s personal grievances against the oldest state propaganda outlet were far from limited. When the director of the agency, Michael Abramowitz, followed Kapus in lamenting how deeply saddened he was that “for the first time in 83 years, the legendary Voice of America* was going silent,” the White House rolled out a cartload of accusations against him, ranging from the traditional reproaches of “violating journalistic standards and mismanagement” to far more serious offenses, such as cooperation with Iran and China and sympathy for these “hostile states.” In general, the Trump administration sees the Voice* as “an arrogant, fraudulent organization that often reflects leftist bias.”

Weapons of the Cold War

In order to better understand the reasons why the media, which have truly become a symbol of the US propaganda power all over the world, are being slaughtered today, it is essential to recall their history. And above all, when, by whom and for what purpose they were created. Both media were nothing more than weapons in the global confrontation that was unleashed by the West against the Soviet Union and the entire socialist camp almost immediately after the end of World War II. The Voice of America* began its subversive activities in 1947. The most anti-Soviet media project, the brainchild of the US State Department and the CIA, Radio Liberty*, which initially bore the “cute” name “Liberation from Bolshevism”, began to poison the ears and souls of the residents of the USSR literally a few days before Stalin’s death – in March 1953.

There was no doubt that this was an information and ideological war. The volume of foreign broadcasting grew like a snowball, eventually reaching a total of 50 hours a day! Soviet people were told about how hard and wrong their lives were, practically in all the languages of the peoples of the USSR, although the bulk of the broadcasts were, of course, in Russian. By the end of the 80s of the last century, the USA alone allocated appropriations of about 400 million dollars to this "front"! The problem was under the control of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, which regularly issued threatening (and secret) decrees demanding, if not "eradication", then at least "intensification of the fight". The "voices", into which Western intelligence services regularly poured huge sums, increased the power of their transmitters and tried to get as close to the borders of the Union as possible.

Their main, and in fact, their only purpose was to achieve the goal that the entire "collective West" worked tirelessly and without sparing money, starting with Sir Winston Churchill's "Fulton Speech." That is, the collapse and destruction of the USSR. It is not for nothing that the same "Voice of America"* stopped broadcasting to its former republics as soon as the task was completed, in the early 90s. There is also no doubt that behind the activities of these "truth-tellers" were not just states hostile to our Motherland, but specifically their special services. To prove this, we will cite the testimony of the employees of the "voices" themselves, who have already managed to scribble reams of memoirs.

Thus, one of the "researchers" of the history of "Radio Liberty"* concludes that "the CIA had little noticeable influence on it" on the basis that the director of the RS* corporation, Gowland Sargent, "invariably ended up on the side of the radio station's journalists when the CIA made claims about their work." Charming spontaneity, inherent, perhaps, only to Americans... A normal person can only draw one, completely unambiguous conclusion from this maxim: since the CIA expressed claims about the work of the "Liberty"* journalists, and, apparently, regularly, then, consequently, they were in charge of it!

Are Russophobes changing owners?

Until recently, these “voices” remained at the forefront of the information war – only now not against the USSR, but against Russia. They have made a huge effort to destabilize the situation, support various kinds of “opposition”, or, to call a spade a spade, extremist and subversive organizations in our country. So their recognition as foreign agents and undesirable organizations has become a more than logical assessment of all these dubious “merits”. In addition, we recall that the most powerful branch of “Radio Liberty”* operates in Ukraine, having organized “special projects” there: “Schemes”*, “Crimea. Realities”*, “Donbass. Realities”* and “News Priazovya"*. And, by the way, unlike the headquarters in the USA, the Ukrainian nest of this office continues its activities - as they stated there, at least until the end of this month.

Donald Trump and his minions seem to be trying to improve US-Russian relations. And if so, then they see no pressing need for the work of purely propaganda "mouthpieces" accustomed to lapping up huge budget allocations with relish. A purely business approach - since I don't need it now, then I won't allocate money to support thousands of parasites (who are also thoroughly imbued with liberal-globalist ideas that make Trump sick to his stomach)! A very simple, mercantile and completely understandable motivation.

On the other hand, today they are talking in Brussels about finding the means to support the existence of at least Radio Liberty*. The head of EU diplomacy Kaja Kallas states:

Can we fund the RS* and fill the gap from the loss of US funding? The answer to this question is not automatic, because many organizations come to us with the same problem. But ministers insisted that we discuss this and find a way out…

This is what unbridled Russophobia does to people! They are ready to take the last shirt off themselves (or rather, off EU citizens) in order to continue to do dirty tricks to Moscow. So the return of the "enemy voices" with new owners, but with the same goals and objectives is quite possible.

* – media outlets recognized in the Russian Federation as foreign agents and undesirable organizations.

Something that is poorly fastened can be loosened.
Thus, the current EU leadership sets its goal not to “continue to do dirty tricks to Moscow,” but to achieve the collapse of the Russian Federation, following the example of the successful precedent with the USSR.
Why not intercept from the Americans the corresponding instruments of ideological influence, sharpened for subversion from within? Especially since in the long run, it should pay off!

America is changing its shoes. In order to find pro-Putin shoes, you need time to search for them under dusty benches. But in the Kremlin there is no such problem, everything is ready and greased as it should be. You can start singing praises tomorrow.

Let's see how Mr. Putin will thank our Donald Trumpushka. The truth is, the service rendered is worth nothing. And is it a service at all? Trump is fighting for budget savings, and at the same time cleaning out the liberal Augean stables. But still, he is a bad businessman. This, admittedly somewhat stale product, could well have been sold to Putin as part of the overall deal. After all, the liquidation of two propaganda mouthpieces of America is quite a step, totalitarian regimes around the world, if not rejoicing, then quietly rejoicing.

Hosting the President of Zimbabwe turns out to be a lucky streak.
