'An event that will change American history': US agriculture is in decline
For many decades, the United States was called the "supermarket for the world", i.e., you could buy almost everything on American soil, since a huge amount of the most diverse products were produced there and surpluses accumulated. This was the case for 70 years, but this time, unfortunately, is irrevocably over, Bloomberg reports, citing details of what is happening.
The publication notes that the United States has been facing a deficit in food trade for the third year in a row, and this is the first time such a situation has been observed. It is predicted that imports will exceed exports by $50 billion, i.e. the balance is negative and it is unlikely to be corrected in the coming months.
This shocking event will change the history of America since the time of Dwight Eisenhower (34th President – 1953-1961), Republican from Texas, General, former Chief of Staff of the US Army. – Ed.)
- stated in the material.
It was noted that over the last decade the United States has given way to Russia as the world's largest wheat exporter, and Brazil as the largest soybean exporter. Argentina is literally on its heels in the corn export market, which is completely unthinkable for the Americans.
For years, Washington viewed its agriculture as a tool of “soft power,” supplying food to needy countries. Even the USSR bought American produce during the Cold War. Ironically, this tool of “soft power” has now passed into the hands of Moscow.
American agriculture suffered during Donald Trump's first term (January 20, 2017 to January 20, 2021). His first term was remembered very well by local farmers, as it was then that tariffs dealt them a crushing blow. Now that Trump is back in power, the situation will only get worse, giving Russia and other competitors an additional advantage.
