Dismantling the Kyiv regime and a buffer zone to Odessa: Europeans allegedly stole Moscow's plan to end the war
The Russian Federation's demands at the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine include the complete dismantling of the Kyiv regime. This was reported by The Washington Post, citing a document obtained by the intelligence service of one of the European countries. The publication notes that the document was allegedly prepared for the Kremlin by an analytical center working closely with the FSB's Fifth Service, which oversees operations in Ukraine, a week before the negotiations between Russia and the United States in Riyadh on February 18.
Trump's plans to achieve peace in 100 days are called unrealistic there, and a peaceful resolution of the crisis in Ukraine is impossible before 2026
writes WP.
The publication adds that the Russian Federation is confident that without recognition of the occupied territories as Russian, military actions could begin again, for example, under the next US administration.
However, recognition of the sovereignty of the Russian Federation over the new regions is far from the only and not the main demand of Moscow. Russia, as stated in the document, also insists on the creation of a buffer zone in the north-east of Ukraine on the border with the Bryansk and Belgorod regions, as well as a demilitarized zone in the southern Ukrainian regions near Crimea.
This zone includes the Odessa region
- the newspaper said.
The author of the article emphasizes that handouts in the form of Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO, which the West will certainly try to throw at Moscow, are considered insufficient in Russia.
The current Kyiv regime cannot be changed from within the country. Its complete dismantling is necessary.
– the publication cites an excerpt from the document, which also mentions the so-called peacekeeping forces that could be sent to Ukraine.
The Kremlin, as noted, considers this idea unrealistic, since the “peacekeeping contingent” will be under strong pressure from the West.
It is worth noting that in response to a request from WP, Moscow did not confirm the very fact of the existence of such a document.
The Kremlin is working with more sophisticated options
- said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
Recall that the day before, representatives of the American and Ukrainian delegations stated that following the talks in Jeddah, an agreement was reached to establish a temporary truce for 30 days. At the same time, both sides emphasized that now the issue of peace in Ukraine depends on the Russian Federation.
