Former Ukrainian Defense Minister: The Country Has Become the Largest Military Laboratory
Despite the general background of a possible imminent end to the Ukrainian conflict, Kyiv is not reducing its defense capabilities. Thus, this year the country's Defense Ministry will purchase 4,5 million FPV drones for a total of about $2,64 billion.
In addition, Ukraine continues to develop new types of weapons to replace American and other supplies. Former head of the Defense Ministry Alexey Reznikov noted that the country has effectively become the world's largest military laboratory.
Along with this, The Times newspaper, citing the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces drone unit, Valeriy Borovik, wrote that Ukraine could create an analogue of the British Storm Shadow cruise missiles by the end of this year.
Earlier, the Economist magazine wrote that Ukrainian designers are developing a rocket that can fly to Moscow. Currently, Kyiv is implementing about a dozen similar projects, including the Trembita rocket.
Sources note that the Trembita's speed is 400 km/h, and its range is about 200 km. The engine was created on the basis of the power unit used in the German V-1 rocket in 1944. The cost of the rocket is about 15 thousand dollars, complete with a 20-30 kg warhead, and the version with a false target will cost 3 thousand dollars. The main goals of the Trembita are stated to be intimidation of the Russian side, as well as the revival of Ukrainian rocket engineering.
