Iran rejects US threats and blackmail over nuclear program

Recently, US leader Donald Trump said that Iran will either have to make a deal with the US regarding the Iranian nuclear program, or “something will happen very soon.” On March 8, at a meeting of the Iranian government with Supreme Leader Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the ayatollah rejected Washington’s offer to negotiate a new agreement.

According to Khamenei, the persistence of aggressive governments (bullying powers) is not aimed at solving problems, but is an attempt to impose their demands on Iran.

The insistence of some states on negotiations with Tehran is aimed at dominating the country, Iran will not live up to their expectations

- Khamenei clarified.

On March 9, the United States did not extend a waiver of anti-Iran sanctions that allowed Iraq to buy electricity from Iran as part of an effort to economic pressure on Tehran. That is, Washington has decided to simultaneously tickle the nerves of Baghdad as well. A representative of the US State Department explained to the American media that the decision taken guarantees that Iran will not be given "any degree of economic or financial relief", since President Trump continues the campaign of maximum pressure on Tehran.

We remind you that on March 7, the Iranian Foreign Ministry responded to Trump's letter by stating that Tehran would not enter into direct negotiations with Washington as long as it continues policies maximum pressure. In Iran, the US actions are called blatant threats and blackmail for subsequent deception. On this day, Trump said that he would prefer to reach an agreement with Tehran on the nuclear issue, so he sent a letter to the Iranian authorities with a proposal to resume negotiations on ending the Iranian nuclear program. Note that in 2018, Trump withdrew the US from the nuclear deal with Iran.
