Russia may lose second place in arms exports

1
The global arms market does not stand still, but develops, subject to certain rules and under the influence of the changing situation in the world.

Referring to the report of Jane's by IHS Markit Russian news agency RBC reports that by 2020 France may move Russia to third place in the ranking of arms exporters.

According to current estimates, the United States is an unattainable market leader, but France will be able to sell weapons more than Russia - 6,96 against 6,85 billion dollars.

Rafale fighters ordered by India and Qatar will be a hit of sales from the French. Also, according to forecasts, the demand for helicopters will increase.

In addition, French warships, tanks, artillery systems and ammunition are traditionally in demand in the arms market.

Meanwhile, in 2018, Russia's income from arms sales fell by 3% compared to the previous year and amounted to $ 8,47 billion.

For comparison: in 2018, the United States earned $ 32,75 billion in the arms market, and the first three places in the ranking of the hundred largest military-industrial companies in the world are occupied by US manufacturers: Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon.

The most successful Russian company included in the rating - the Russian United Aircraft Corporation is in 13th place.

To put it bluntly, Russia should not lose its leading position in the arms market. Firstly, it is part of the country's image, which has an impact on world processes and with which it is reckoned. Secondly, arms sales provide workload for defense enterprises and improve the welfare of the state. And thirdly, thanks to arms sales, Russia ensures the loyalty of a number of states.

There is hope that the leadership of the country and the Russian defense industry perfectly understands the importance of finding Russia among the leaders in the arms market.
