Several thousand Polish farmers gathered for a protest near the presidential palace in Warsaw. They demand the resumption of trade with Russia and the introduction of restrictions on the import of products from Western Europe.
This was reported by the Warsaw correspondent of the news agency. RIA News.
The assembled farmers express extreme dissatisfaction with the withdrawal from the Russian market. In addition, they require the government to pay a number of compensations, strengthen state control over import of agricultural products and increase purchase prices.
Resented by the closure of the Russian market, farmers say that “they ruined everything policy”, Meaning by these words the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions and retaliatory measures of Moscow. They say that other countries are buying quality Polish products and reselling them to Russia. At the same time, they receive the main profit, not the Poles.
One of the protesters said the following:
But not only is Russian consumer inaccessible to Polish farmers. In the domestic market, one has to compete with Western products, which poured into Poland in an endless stream. On one of the posters they wrote:
The protesters brought a coffin to the president’s palace, which symbolizes Polish agriculture, which is dying due to the wrong policy of the government, infringing on local producers for the sake of foreign interests.
