This is Article 11 of the Agreement on the Activities of States on the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies, approved by the UN General Assembly in 1979, which states that the natural satellite of the Earth “is not subject to national appropriation either by declaring sovereignty on it, nor by use or occupation, nor by any other means. "
