Iranian Foreign Ministry: US supports dictators, executioners and extremists
Problems in bilateral relations between Washington and Tehran began in 1979, when the monarchy was overthrown as a result of the revolution in Iran. Then Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi went to emigration, and Iran was proclaimed the Islamic Republic.
Since then, the US has regularly criticized Iran, imposed various sanctions on it and threatened war.
