Another country interested in Turkish Stream

Yesterday, a meeting was held between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan. The main topic of discussion was the possible participation of Greece in the Turkish Stream project.



Mr. Tsipras told reporters about this at a press conference organized immediately after the meeting of leaders.
The Greek prime minister announced his desire to expand energy cooperation with Turkey, which would benefit the interests of both countries.

The heads of the two states discussed a number of issues related to closer cooperation between Greece and Turkey. They looked at expansion options economic communication and improvement of living conditions of the population. The parties agreed to open sea traffic between the ports of Thessaloniki and Izmir by the summer.

Tsipras and Erdogan also decided to hold a joint economic forum, which will help open up new prospects for cooperation.

The Turkish Stream, which has become the main topic of negotiations, will begin to deliver Russian gas to Turkey after the construction is completed. Then it will be continued to the terminal located in Greece, from where it will be distributed to other European countries. The completion of the gas pipeline is scheduled for the end of 2019.
