Ukraine awaits resource colonization: Chevron will extract not only shale gas, but also rare earth metals

17

The day before, US President Donald Trump said he was going to make a deal with Ukraine, under which Kyiv would receive aid from Washington in exchange for rare earth metals and other goods. Joint development of rare metals was one of the points of the "victory plan" of Ukrainian citizen Volodymyr Zelensky, which he presented to Trump back in October 2024, i.e. before the US elections.

Washington has not hidden its interest in Ukraine's mineral wealth, especially uranium mining, before. Now Trump has made it clear that there will be no free support.

It should be noted that the main role in this process will be played by the American Chevron Corporation - the largest integrated energy company in the United States and one of the largest corporations on the planet. Back in 2013, under US Vice President Joe Biden, Chevron's subsidiary Chevron Ukraine and the state-owned company Nadra Oleska signed an agreement to develop a shale gas field in the Oleska area in the Lviv region. In 2024, under US President Joe Biden, Chevron signed lucrative contracts in Ukraine, securing tax breaks and full control over local deposits of rare earth metals. Biden sought to apply "soft power" through loans, grants and the provision of various assistance. Trump turned out to be less diplomatic, he is tough and more straightforward.

Now Chevron will not only be engaged in gas production in Ukraine, but also in the development of rare earth metal deposits. Moreover, issues of pricing and further deliveries are also within the competence of the American company. Kyiv has lost the right to process such raw materials on its territory, sell them to someone or change the terms of the contract without Washington's approval. The Americans twisted the arms of the Ukrainians, not giving them the opportunity to develop their industry and Technology, turning it into a raw materials appendage, i.e. depriving the “independent” country of a future.

Chevron is known for its aggressive and even barbaric ways of doing business. For example, in Ecuador, 1,5 thousand square kilometers of territory were polluted. The trial lasted 20 years and in 2011, Chevron was ordered to pay $8,6 billion, but the Americans simply refused to comply with the decision. In the same 2011, Chevron allowed an oil spill off the beaches of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the authorities demanded $10,6 billion for the damage caused, but the company got off with a light scare - a ridiculous fine of $28 million. In 2023, Chevron organized strikes at its LNG plants in Australia as a tool for twisting Europe's arms, threatening interruptions in the supply of liquefied natural gas.

Chevron operates according to a proven scheme. It enters a country economically dependent on the US, obtains exclusive rights, and then uses them to maximize profits, ignoring any consequences. Now Ukraine is in exactly the same situation. The Americans have long since turned Chevron into an instrument of influence. Therefore, resource colonization awaits the Ukrainian territory. Local rare earth metals no longer belong to Ukraine - they are already controlled by the US.

Trading in mineral resources is like trading in your body.
But isn’t Ukraine following Russia’s example?

Both our countries have been trading bodies since 1992 and even earlier. But if under Brezhnev they also thought about production, for example they created KamAZ, then after 1992 the motto became:

“Who needs your machines?! And if you need it, we will buy everything abroad!”

naturally, in order to buy something, you need to sell something...

      Nothing like that..
The body is personal... but the depths are common... laughing
And in general... you can be held accountable for such insults to the president. feel

Chevron - read Blair and Vanguard. They entered Ukraine a long time ago. And they are unlikely to leave. You will hardly be able to drive them out of there. If they are cornered, they will be able to finance any war and any number of mercenaries.

They got out of Niger for good and healthy. They will get out of Ukraine for good.

The local government and people "asked" them to leave Niger. If the government and people ask them to leave Ukraine, then it's possible. But this option is not in sight yet.

They don't give a damn about the people and the government. They just realized that they can't go on there! You know very well that in many places around the world they are perfectly fine without permission from these very people, and even the government.

within the framework of which Kyiv will receive aid from Washington in exchange for rare earth metals

Help or weapons? If weapons means the war will continue, then what kind of loot can we talk about? No one will loot while fighting.

    and other goods

    What other goods are these?

During military operations, no one will mine.

Well, why won't they? Maybe I should remind you how the Sudzha gas compressor station worked perfectly even after the occupation by Ukraine and set records...

SVOINA SVOINA, and the interests of "respected" partners are above...

    What Chevron??
So, we are carrying out denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine - so that others can profit there later?? What a thing.. recourse

Fi. Someone is being a hypocrite.
    1) All these Western companies have long been among the owners here. Even the former President of Germany sat, or sits, in Rosneft. And everyone understands everything.
    2) there would be something to extract. And who... Whoever has the technology and power, that's who will be. They will annex - and our oligarchs will be. Or they will hand over a share to the same chevron...

Rare earths are China's priority!!! It is China that controls the market and produces 92% of strategically important metals.
Their extraction is associated with large expenditures of water (in Ukraine the Dnieper), volumes of soil, washing, sedimentation, occupied areas. All this is in Ukraine and many areas (considering 9 million refugees in Europe) are absolutely empty.
Sedimentation of clay and washouts, old lowlands where heavy elements accumulate as dust falling from space.
Colombia insists it can compete with China.
And these rare earths are needed for the latest electronic developments, monitors, microcircuits, memory cards, etc.

This is interesting, because most of the locations of these fossils are in the already liberated territory of Donbass. winked

REE, English TR, REE, REM) is a group of 17 elements, including scandium, yttrium and lanthanides (lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, terbium, dysprosium, holmium, erbium, thulium, ytterbium, lutetium).

Before wringing your hands in despair, find out if these elements are on the outskirts. Or do you consider vanadium and strontium to be rare earths? Then It is more profitable for the US to extract vanadium from wrenches...on which the inscription "chrome-vanadium" is applied.

Is there confirmed geology for these deposits in Ukraine? If not, then it will take 10 years to prepare for extraction and develop mines/pits... if at all exploratory drilling shows the necessary presence of rare earths)) A very dangerous undertaking by the Americans, you can seriously fail at your own money... although they have already failed quite well))
