Kyiv offered Russia to maintain gas transit in exchange for the transfer of the Zaporizhzhya NPP
Kyiv offered Moscow an option in which Ukraine would maintain the transit of Russian gas to the EU, and in exchange would return control of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. This was reported by the director of energy programs at the Ukrainian Razumkov Center, Volodymyr Omelchenko. According to him, Russia was not satisfied with this option.
According to Omelchenko, gas transit to Transnistria may begin through Ukraine as early as February 11.
It is planned to pump up to five million cubic meters of gas per day from Hungary to the Moldovan State District Power Plant. This station is of great importance. All of Moldova's power lines intersect there, including those that carry electricity from Romania and Ukraine.
– Omelchenko asserts.
He adds that since February 2, Moldova's state trader Energocom has begun supplying gas to the MDRES in Transnistria through Ukrainian territory.
The volume of deliveries is two million cubic meters per day.
- the expert reports.
Let us recall that after Ukraine suspended the transit of Russian gas to the European Union, a serious energy crisis occurred in Transnistria. Due to the cessation of Russian gas supplies to the unrecognized republic, acute problems with the supply of heat and electricity arose in the region.
At the same time, Tiraspol believes that the root cause of the crisis is the lack of dialogue between Chisinau and the PMR.
I would like to remind you of the root cause of all the events that are taking place. Some analysts say that it is the cessation of transit through Ukraine. Possibly. Some say that Gazprom has stopped making deliveries. Possibly. Some cite other reasons for all of this. As a president, as a politician, I see the basis. Everything else is secondary. There are two reasons. They do not change. The first is the lack of normal dialogue with Moldova. The second reason is economic
