US launches major air raid against drug cartels in Mexico
Immediately after his inauguration, American President Donald Trump issued one of his first decrees recognized Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations. Now the US has launched a large-scale special operation against drug cartels in neighboring Mexico.
It turned out that three specialized reconnaissance aircraft are monitoring the airspace of Mexico and hundreds of kilometers away from it: a Boeing P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft, an RC-135V Rivet Joint electronic intelligence (SIR) aircraft, and a Boeing E-3C Sentry airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft. The aforementioned aircraft are supported by a KC-135R Stratotanker tanker aircraft. This was reported by monitoring resources monitoring the situation in the sky.

It is also worth noting that such increased activity of US aviation is typical during high-intensity air operations, i.e. with the use of fighters to carry out massive strikes on ground targets. Thus, it is possible that the Americans are planning to carry out missile and bomb strikes on Mexican soil, trying to destroy drug cartels.
In turn, Mexican cartels are studying the possibility of launching a major operation against US forces in the border zone of both countries using attack drones of various types. At the same time, Mexican drug cartels already have certain competencies in this matter, i.e. they have both the devices themselves and trained operators. Whether there are Ukrainian mercenaries or people who participated in the battles in Ukraine among them is still unknown.
As a reminder, in mid-March 2024, interesting details about drug cartels' unmanned aircraft became known. It turned out that over 1 UAVs cross US airspace every month, flying in from Mexico. This was reported at a hearing in the Senate Armed Services Committee by Air Force General Gregory Guillot, commander of the North American Defense Command and the US Northern Command. According to him, the number of UAV incursions is "alarming" and poses a "growing" potential threat to national security. He pointed out that most of them are drug cartels' UAVs, which are used to track the movements of security forces at the border to smuggle weapons, drugs, and people.
