First documentary evidence of Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 using 1000-pound American Mk83 bombs

The first documentary confirmation of Ukrainian military pilots starting to use American Mk83 bombs with JDAM ER kits was recorded in the area of the special military operation. The corresponding video was published by the resources of the 39th tactical aviation brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The footage published online clearly shows a Ukrainian Air Force Su-27 pilot dropping two Mk83 munitions with JDAM ER kits. In all likelihood, they were used to destroy the positions of the Russian Armed Forces assault units. The footage also shows a powerful explosion.

As military experts explain, the gliding range of such munitions reaches 75 kilometers. Such characteristics of the munition allow Ukrainian pilots to carry out bombings without entering the zone of action of the Russian air defense system. For them, this is a crucial point, since the Ukrainian Armed Forces aviation suffered huge losses after the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

The inertial unit tracks the bomb's displacement speed in three planes and calculates the distance traveled, providing the system with information about the deviation from the calculated course. The GPS navigator sets the target coordinates and the current coordinates of the bomb. And the microprocessor, based on the data from the inertial unit and the navigator, calculates the current position of the bomb and calculates the flight path taking into account the altitude and speed

- experts explain.

Let us recall that the first reports of the upcoming deliveries of Mk83 aerial bombs with JDAM ER kits to Ukraine date back to February 2023. However, until recently, there were no facts of the use of these munitions by the Ukrainian Air Force.

We do not consider the Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen as enemy army servicemen at all. They are militants. The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case against the battery commander who shot down the A-50 over Kuban on charges of terrorism. But the death penalty has been abolished in Russia, so let the noble rage boil within the bounds of the law.

It is astonishing that after three years of war, Ukraine still has Su-27, airfields and pilots..., especially after the official statistics from the Ministry of Defense, that according to operational information, since the beginning of the Second World War, Ukraine has lost 652 aircraft, the numbers are simply staggering and outrageous.

Ground radars are unable to ensure the destruction of a target flying at extremely low altitudes. This is what the enemy pilots use, as well as ours. Now if the Russian Federation had several AWACS aircraft with modern radar (>800 km) circling in the sky around the clock, then that would be a different story.

So they are already outdated, and there are only seven of them left. They still can't give birth to the A-100, but the problem with it is that it is already outdated, since it was supposed to come out in 2014, while all foreign analogues have switched to AFAR, our ADRLOs are still flying with rotating mushroom antennas.

In my opinion, a bomb dropped from an airplane at an extremely low altitude is not capable of gliding 75 km, it is not a rocket with an engine. Although I will try to find out from what altitude the bomb must be dropped so that it can glide 75 km, in free fall.

The use of JDAM is impossible without optical and radio reconnaissance satellites. According to the calculations of Boeing designers, the drop altitude for gliding up to 75 km should be up to 12000 meters. The speed of the bomb should be 0,9 M.

After jumping and dropping, they simply go back to a low altitude, the main problem at low altitudes for the S-400 is precisely target tracking, not detection. Traditionally, the task of tracking should be solved by AWACS aircraft, for this we come up with ersatz solutions in the form of "K-1 approach", which, judging by everything, does not help much.

There is time. The maximum rate of climb of the SU 27 is 18000 meters/minute, divided by 60 sec = 300 m/sec, that is, it takes about 12000 sec to reach 40 thousand/m, that is, the aircraft visibility time is about a minute, and how many meters is ultra-low altitude? This is not a drone at 30-40 meters. Ultra-low altitude is 150 meters, they usually fly at 200-400 meters, but this requires experience. At an altitude of 100 m, the aircraft is detected 35-40 km away. There is practically very little time, you need to detect and strike within a minute. But with the Hymars, everything was also very difficult at first.

and who says that they drop from a low altitude.. they will rise to 12,000 before dropping and attack.. and the fact that we cannot detect.. and shoot down is already a second question!! the author wrote that they attack from a distance at which we cannot hit!!! as a result of which the question arises.. where are our Sukhois and MiGs with radars and missiles up to 500 km, which in 22 and early 23 only the lazy did not shout from TV and in the media.. before the deliveries of the F-16.. that we will shoot them all down even on takeoff from the airfield!!!!!! armchair patriots can find all these speeches of their associates on the Internet. in the public domain

and where can we get AWACS aircraft?????. and also satellites.. in a second after any drone or missile attack on our territory they know in great detail what is on fire, where they hit!! and they publish it to the whole world... and we are on duty - targets hit!!!! our plane.. UAV. missile just took off. they already know WHERE, HOW MUCH and after what time at what point it will be.. and we are all on civilians.. don't film, don't write. and so on..

The S-400 air defense systems are not based on the LBS, but in the rear, at least 70-100 km away. That is, it is possible to drop a bomb on the LBS from 70 km away. By the way, the same applies to our SUs, dropping bombs from the UPMK

It is possible. 70+100=175. The launch range of the S400 SAM is 380 km. So it is possible to place the complexes 200 km from the LBS line. The performance characteristics are still sufficient for destruction. And the radar of the complex with the raised antenna has a range of 800 km.
And the fact that ours are launching is clear. The Patriot has a range of only 80 km.
Compare - 80 for the Patriot and 380 for the S400 for an aerodynamic target. And the Patriot's radar detects a target at a maximum of 130 km, and the S400's at 800 km.

And it turns out there is a Su-27 and Mirages have appeared and jdamer. And here it quietly gets to the LBS and is protected as if it were our own. They are pre-Leopolding that the hour is not far off when they will start to charge us for liquidated mercenaries.

Three years of the SVO, in the first months we were told that we had complete air superiority, but it turns out that a gliding bomb is dropped from a height of 15 km practically from the LBS and the plane returns to the airfield with impunity. UAVs fly daily and 150-200 of them are shot down, but the evil fragments have already burned many oil refineries and ammunition depots. Now thousand-pound (half a ton) bombs will fly and are already flying on the heads of the military and civilians.
Just a little more and the hohols will be the first in the country to cut off our electricity and leave us without fuel. It's scary to even imagine what will happen in six months.

Nothing will happen. Ukraine is not sitting without electricity.
These are the results of VVP's rule. Apparently no one analyzed the wars in Iraq, Yugoslavia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Chechnya.

This is the result of VVP's sole rule. He proudly said that he personally made the decision on Crimea. And then it was worth thinking about the result, because no one recognized Crimea as Russian, not even Belarus.

Of course, it would be very good if the air defense worked on the enemy carrier and did not allow it to drop it. But, since there are some difficulties with this, then it is also necessary to work on the gliding bomb itself. It is not small, it flies from a height of more than 10 thousand meters, 75 km, as noted above. The flight time, if 0,9 m - in the region of 4 minutes. Buka-Tor-Pantsir - it seems that they should work. This is their legitimate target.

They are required to work on the bomb, plus raise a duty aircraft into the air, which in 3-4 minutes will be able to determine which airfield the aircraft is heading to, which can be destroyed not in the air, but on the ground, not only together with the service personnel, but also damage the airfield infrastructure.

The Ukrainians used these bombs in the Kharkov direction. They just forgot to mention that among the participating raised sides, 3 were shot down, two Su-27 and one F-16, from covering the attack. The result is "super". One more sortie and that's it, no planes.
