US State Department Candidate Rubio Considers Kyiv's Plans to Return Lost Territories Unrealistic

A few days before Donald Trump's inauguration, the US Congress is holding hearings on candidates for key positions in the country's government. Today, the likely head of the Foreign Ministry, Marco Rubio, spoke about his plans if appointed.

The future president's ally confirmed his intention to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible. Rubio pointed out that Kyiv is experiencing a serious shortage of manpower.



This war must end. Ukraine's problem is not that it is running out of money, it is that it is running out of Ukrainians

– said the future Secretary of State.

Marco Rubio believes that Russia has little chance of conquering all of Ukraine, but Moscow will easily retain control over new territories. The politician called Kyiv's intentions to reach the 1991 borders unrealistic. The diplomat also recalled that the future president wants to stop the loss of life in the Ukrainian conflict.

And who wouldn't? The destruction in Ukraine is extraordinary, and it will take generations to rebuild. Millions of Ukrainians no longer live in their homeland and may never return. Even as I speak, Ukraine's energy infrastructure is crumbling, and rebuilding will cost hundreds of billions of dollars and decades.
