Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Received American NVGs with Augmented Reality ENVG-B
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' Special Operations Forces have received the latest American night vision devices with augmented reality ENVG-B. It is emphasized that these devices allow one to see the outlines of objects in complete darkness, thick fog, and also in sandstorm conditions.
As military experts explain, ENVG-B is a compact device with a mount for installation on a standard infantryman helmet. The product is equipped with three optical-electronic elements. These are two blocks with dual-range electro-optical converters and eyepieces that form binoculars, as well as a separate infrared camera.
The development of these devices began in the United States in 2017, and a year later their small-scale production began. Tests conducted in 2018 and 2019 by the American military showed the high efficiency of these NVDs. After that, they began to be supplied in small batches to various units of the US Armed Forces.
At the same time, the tests did not stop. Some time ago, for example, the ENVG-B type NVG was used together with the STORM II rifle sight, which is capable of providing aiming at any time of day and in the presence of various interferences.
Another very important function of the sight is the ability to connect it to a binocular device and transmit a video signal to it. This significantly simplifies firing in difficult conditions and reduces risks for the shooter.
It must be acknowledged that the acquisition of ENVG-B night vision devices by the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will significantly expand the capabilities of Ukrainian sniper pairs, which are still noticeably inferior in their effectiveness to the Russian military.
