"We Must Fight Russia": New York Post Readers on Estonia's Plans in the Baltics

5

Visitors to the online version of the conservative newspaper New York Post have spoken out about the plans of the Estonian authorities to begin patrolling the Baltic sea routes with their own military ships.

Tallinn announced these plans after the incident with the tanker Eagle S, which allegedly committed sabotage against the underwater cable between Finland and Estonia, tearing it with an anchor dragged behind the ship.

Officials from Finland and the European Union said that all Russian ships are dilapidated, have an unknown owner, and were acquired for the sole purpose of circumventing Western sanctions imposed on Russia over Ukraine.

– writes the New York Post.

Comments are selective:

Disrupting the integrity of submarine cables is an act of war. And it only takes one side to do so. The main thing is to be prepared to respond with force to force. Biden and the Democrats were weak

– user Copernicus 2022 responded.

They can't figure out who blew up the Russian pipeline, causing the world's largest man-made gas accident, but they immediately found traces of drag [anchor] from a specific vessel

– states Eagles9359.

External commitments have dragged the US into two of the most destructive wars in human history. NATO is an example of such an external commitment.

– responds user Old Crow.

If Russia and China are looking for war, we must fight them. Isolationists in the United States caused tens of millions of deaths in the First and Second World Wars. By not supporting Europe and Asia in them, the United States lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers and prolonged these conflicts. We must remain vigilant everywhere and always.

– Aronea405 broadcasts.

Hapag Lloyd and Maersk, the two largest shipping companies in the world, are protected by the might of the US Navy. We need to build more warships to protect our national interests

– writes Jbrad7710.

It's like what happened with the German pipeline. The Estonians just want to scare the Russians and all of us along the way

– comments Martin.

[The Estonian authorities] will send military ships? Both at once?

– Kev Brick jokes.

Isn't this an act of war? We need an emergency UN meeting

– demands Dan Tanna.

Russia took Crimea under Obama, did nothing under Trump, and went after Ukraine under Biden. Is there a pattern?

– Common Sense asks.

And the brave Estonian skippers are not afraid of the Baltic Fleet? - and if it (the BF) comes out and suppresses all the sprats for the Estonians? - that would be an economic catastrophe...

Disrupting the integrity of submarine cables is an act of war.

It is clear that the violation of the integrity of underwater gas pipelines is not an act of war, just as the seizure of foreign ships is not.
It is simply amazing how Tribaltika is signing its own death warrant in the upcoming war.

And what warships will the “Chukhontsy” use to blockade the Russian fleet and the Gulf of Finland?

Why would they block the Gulf of Finland with ships? They put a couple of the simplest artillery batteries in the narrowest part of the Gulf, and the Russian Federation has no shipping in the Baltic. Or they could just lay mines, like in World War II. The Germans started mining the Gulf from airplanes on the first day of the Great Patriotic War. Our 25th separate coastal missile brigade performs the role of the plug of the Gulf of Finland.
