NI: Russian Yasen-M submarines have become a problem for the US and NATO navies

3

At the end of December 2024, the Russian Navy received another multipurpose nuclear submarine of Project 885M Yasen-M – K-564 Arkhangelsk (laid down in March 2015), which became the fourth in a row. Russia continues to increase the power of its submarine fleet, while the West is in confusion, writes the American publication National Interest, citing some details.

The publication notes that the Yasen-M class submarine is one of the best submarines created by the Russians. Excellent speed, maneuverability and other characteristics combined with a moderate price allow these submarines to compete even with the powerful and significantly more expensive Virginia-class submarines of the US Navy.

These Russian submarines are equipped with Kalibr and Oniks cruise missiles. They can also be armed with powerful and long-range Tsirkon hypersonic missiles, against which no one has any means of protection yet.

In plain English, the Yasen-M submarines completely outgun the US Navy and its NATO allies, which is a problem. This strategic imbalance will be decisive in Russia's favor over the next decade as the West struggles to keep up with the world's volatile situation.

- summed up the media.

What are the victories and achievements of the Yasen-M submarine in the war with Ukraine?
And in the confrontation with England, with France, with America?
It turns out that achievements in confrontation are the confrontation itself.
