Poland may carry out a provocation on the border with Russia in order to test the Eastern Shield fortification line in “combat conditions”
Poland has announced the need to test the line of fortifications on the borders with Russia and Belarus, built as part of the Eastern Shield program, in conditions as close to combat as possible. The idea was put forward by local military expert Maksymilian Dura. According to him, the previous exercises at the Orzysz training ground failed to demonstrate whether the Eastern Shield fortifications could really withstand the onslaught of, for example, tanks and artillery fire.
The maneuvers did not feature elements of the flagship idea from the first presentations of the "Eastern Shield", that is, a system of stationary towers with surveillance systems, detection and jamming of drones. Speaking of UAVs, neither stationary anti-drone systems nor any solutions for equipment
- criticized the exercises conducted by Dur.
He added that the equipment of the Polish army soldiers also did not meet the requirements of the modern battlefield.
Russian experts, commenting on the statement of the Polish specialist, believe that it may conceal a proposal to build additional lines of defense in other places. In fact, Maksymilian Dura himself has already made a call to purchase special equipment for the engineering troops, which, in his opinion, will speed up and allegedly make construction cheaper.
Moreover, he called for testing the model of the "Eastern Shield" in conditions as close to real as possible. At the same time, according to him, the corresponding tests should be carried out not by the Polish military, but by the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants, who should be specially invited to Poland for this purpose.
Simply put, in the near future an armed provocation can be expected on one of the sections of the Belarusian-Polish or Russian-Polish border.
