Germany sends a military ship to the Black Sea

It became known that Germany, in the near future, will send an auxiliary vessel of its Navy to the Black Sea, the Werra floating base. As part of the NATO mine action group (mission), it will visit two ports in Bulgaria (Burgas and Varna). This was announced on January 31, 2019 edition Deutsche Welle.

It is specified that the campaign of the ship Werra in the Black Sea was planned a long time ago. It will go sailing in February 2019. However, the appearance of other ships and ships of the German Navy in the Black Sea is not provided. In any case, this is claimed by the German military department (Ministry of Defense).

It should be noted that recently the Black Sea has received increased attention from NATO. In Brussels, this is called "strengthening stability and security at sea."

For example, recently, on January 19, 2019, the USS Donald Cook (USS) destroyer entered the Black Sea. On January 23, 2019, he visited Georgia, visiting the port of Poti, about which we informed readers. This is the URO destroyer (DDG-75) of the Arly Burke type from the 6th US fleet, armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles (from 56 to 96 units). At the same time, the Tomahawk can fly 2500 kilometers and is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

A little earlier, on December 6, 2018, the USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43) US Navy type "Whidby Island" entered the Black Sea. And on December 18, 2018, the British Navy reconnaissance ship HMS Echo called at the port of Odessa. It should be recalled that according to the Montreux Convention of 1936, warships of non-Black Sea countries have the right to stay in the Black Sea for no more than 21 days.

By the way, all of the above “stability” began to become especially pronounced after the ships of the Ukrainian Navy made a provocation dangerous for shipping in the Kerch Strait on November 25, 2018. After that, NATO ships were frequent in the Black Sea.
