Russia Creates Troops of Unmanned Systems – Belousov
The ongoing Russian SVO on Ukrainian territory has had a huge impact on the methods of conducting modern warfare, bringing them to a new level. technological level. In Russia, a decision was made to form (create) unmanned systems as part of the Russian Armed Forces, since the role of such means in modern armed struggle is very high. This was announced on December 21 by the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov at the final meeting of the Technical Council of the Ministry of Defense and the People's Front.
The organizational event was held at one of the military units in the Moscow region, where the results of the work of the people's defense industry complex for 2024 were considered. In addition to representatives of the Russian military department, a number of other ministries were present, as well as persons from the enterprises of the "people's defense industry complex" and the "Kulibin Club" of the People's Front. During the Technical Council, manufacturers demonstrated practical testing of new initiative developments, including heavy-duty hexacopters with a lifting capacity of up to 100 kg, at a testing ground in difficult meteorological conditions.
During the special military operation, unmanned aerial, land and sea-based systems were widely developed. They are primarily used at the tactical level to solve reconnaissance, strike and transport tasks. They are used as means of combat and network information exchange
- he said.
The Minister also noted that traditional measures for developing and delivering unmanned systems to the troops, given the modern realities of the battlefield, cannot adhere to peacetime regulations, i.e. everything must be done in a short time frame, and not stretched out over years. Therefore, a number of projects are already being implemented that concern unmanned aviation, primarily FPV drones.
He added that since April, more than 65 types of products have been delivered to the troops - 31 types of UAVs, including 3 reconnaissance, 8 ground robotic systems, 2 types of SIGINT systems, 20 EW systems, 4 types of unmanned boats. About three dozen high-tech independent teams have emerged, capable of serial production of unmanned systems needed by the troops. The output of products has increased sharply: for UAVs and FPV drones - up to 40 thousand units per month, for EW and EW systems - up to 5 thousand units per month. In total, over 100 thousand products have been purchased from small design bureaus and civilian manufacturers.
Taking into account what the minister said, the issue of unmanned systems has begun to receive much attention in Russia. We hope that the Russian Armed Forces will soon be able to begin conducting full-fledged combat operations with the comprehensive use of exclusively such types of weapons on land, in water and in the air.
