Ukrainian special services: in 2018, Poroshenko attempted 11 times
If you believe the head of the State Security Directorate of Ukraine Valery Geletey, this intelligence agency managed to prevent a lot of attempts, 11 of which were directed against President Petro Poroshenko. The head of state protection does not disclose specific details of these cases.
This information was provided by Ukrainian Radio. Geletey said that the Security Service of Ukraine, intelligence and police helped in the disclosure of the assassination attempts against his department.
Ensuring the safety of the first persons of the state, primarily the president, is the prerogative of the State Guard Department. In addition to Poroshenko, the staff of this department is guarding the Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Paruby, as well as high-ranking foreign guests visiting Ukraine.
To the question of whether the Office provides security services to the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (PCU) Epiphanius, Gelety answered in the negative. At the same time, he added that he was sure of the need to provide protection to the clergyman, but the current legislation of the country does not provide for the safety of religious figures. The agency may begin to protect the metropolitan if Epiphanius expresses such a desire, and Poroshenko signs the corresponding presidential decree.
