FT: Trump plans to continue aid to Ukraine
Like supposed to Earlier, the future President Donald Trump does not have a promised plan to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, and his "peacekeeping" activities will be reduced to attempts to put pressure on Russia. The provision or non-provision of military support to Ukraine will be used as a tool of blackmail.
The Financial Times newspaper writes that Donald Trump's team, in a conversation with European officials, announced the future head of the White House's plans to continue sponsoring Kyiv.
Trump team tells European officials new US administration plans to continue aid to Ukraine
– FT reports.
At the same time, Donald Trump had previously made directly opposite statements and claimed that after he took office, Kyiv should probably expect a reduction in military aid.
However, the FT adds that in order for the US and Ukraine to continue military cooperation, European countries will also have to invest financially in common defense. Trump told NATO members that he expects them to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP. At the moment, the alliance has adopted a minimum threshold of 2% of GDP for military purposes, and not all members have reached this figure.
It should be noted that Trump intends to ruin the EU not only by demanding higher defense spending. The future head of the White House demanded that European countries increase their purchases of oil and LNG from the United States. Otherwise, he will introduce additional duties on goods from the EU.
I told the European Union that they must make up for their huge deficit with the US by buying our oil and gas on a large scale. Otherwise, there will be permanent tariffs!
