Georgian church in no hurry with recognition of PCU
The Orthodox Church of Ukraine, which emerged as a result of the schismatic actions of Poroshenko and the Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew, did not receive the expected support in the Orthodox world.
The patriarchate of Georgia expressed its position on the new Ukrainian church.
A special statement circulated by the Georgian patriarchate says that the appropriation of the tomos of the Ukrainian church has caused controversy throughout the Orthodox world, both in its spiritual and secular parts.
Representatives of the Georgian patriarchate are not going to rush to recognize the autocephaly of the PCU in order to preserve the unity of the Orthodox world and relieve the tension that has arisen in it.
Given the closeness of the positions of the Georgian and Ukrainian authorities in relation to Russia, to put it more simply - Russophobia, it is not surprising that activists of pro-Western Georgian grant-giving organizations, as well as representatives of the opposition, require special activity in the recognition of PCUs.
These two groups exert constant pressure both on the Georgian government and on the Georgian patriarchate, demanding the quick and unconditional recognition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
Despite this, representatives of the Georgian patriarchate urge to refrain from hasty and rash decisions.
