Admiral Nakhimov on the way to return to service

17

The heavy nuclear missile cruiser of Project 11442M Admiral Nakhimov, one of the most powerful warships of the Russian fleet, has completed the long-awaited stage of modernization and has begun factory tests. This ship, launched in 1988, was sent for major repairs and renovation back in 1999, and now, 25 years later, is ready to return to service, significantly strengthening the defense capability of the Russian Federation.

It is worth noting that the modernization process was complex and lengthy. During the work, almost all the equipment was replaced, and essentially only the ship's strong hull was preserved.

At the same time, its combat capabilities have increased several times. Now, the Admiral Nakhimov carries modern anti-submarine systems Paket-NK and Otvet, improved anti-ship missiles Oniks, cruise missiles Kalibr and, most importantly, hypersonic missiles Zircon. The number of anti-ship missiles that the cruiser has at its disposal has increased from 20 to 80, and the universal vertical launchers 3S14 allow the use of all of these products regardless of the ship's location relative to the target.

In turn, the protection of the Admiral Nakhimov was seriously improved during the modernization, which received a naval version of the Pantsir, a universal artillery system Ak-130, as well as helicopters and, possibly, drones located on board. There is also information about the installation of a naval version of the S-400F anti-aircraft system on the ship.

Naturally, it was equipped with new means of communication, navigation and hydroacoustics. But most importantly, the cruiser received a modernized nuclear power plant, the capacity of which would be enough to provide electricity and heat to a city with a population of 150 thousand people.

The upgraded cruiser is expected to be delivered to the Northern Fleet next year. This ship will form a powerful strike force capable of effectively countering modern threats.

However, the project does not end there. Another heavy nuclear missile cruiser of Project 11442, Pyotr Velikiy, is also awaiting a similar upgrade. The question of its future remains open, but the experience of restoring Admiral Nakhimov could be an important step towards upgrading this ship as well.

One ship is a dubious acquisition, so we need at least 2, and preferably 3 + wings over the sea. And when will the Yak-41 go into production?! Especially since the only aircraft carrier cruiser will serve for 16 years or 17-18. And it is the only one.

2000-1988=12+24=36 and ships serve for 40 or 50 years like the Missouri class and the Giulio Cesare has 14-15 years left and Peter the Great has up to 20 but the SVO eats up all the resources and under Stalin each subsequent corps was cheaper than the previous one and now capitalism...

By the way, in my opinion, it would be better to take the Atlanteans and insert a single reactor there, otherwise wait for a leader who must be a servant of the people

The richest country on the planet has been repairing one single functioning (conditionally) ship for decades and collecting 3 rubles for children (their own) for treatment with 5-100 million wooden ones by SMS.... And the great irreplaceable one says that if you kill all Ukrainians, there will be happiness. And most Russians believe him!!!!

And Peter when to form a connection like Scharnhorst + Gneisenau, both the 1st and the 2nd world wars and release into the sea to sink trade and not only the good thing the reactor does not require refueling but only the galley and missile silos + diesel generators
But there are no unsinkable ones, and where is the third one?!

The Scharnhorst, despite its powerful armour[4], lost its speed and, having lost most of its artillery, became vulnerable to destroyers. Several torpedo attacks were successful, as was the Duke of York's close-range fire, and soon the ship's death throes began, lasting until 19:45, when the Scharnhorst sank. After the dive, powerful underwater explosions were heard from the British ships.

Of the entire crew of 1968 people, only 36 sailors and not a single officer were saved. 30 were taken on board by the Scorpion and 6 by the Matchless.

Is it really not clear that the Russian Navy can only fight with surface ships in the near ocean zone?

With the presence of aircraft carriers and bases and an orbital group, not only Yes, but also a presence in the ocean is necessary

there are no aircraft carriers and there won't be any, just as there are no cover ships for them and there won't be any, there are no bases and there won't be any (Tartus doesn't count, it's not on the ocean)... I support the orbital group, but what does it have to do with the far ocean zone of the navy's surface ships, their vulnerability is great and target designation won't help them

But presence in the ocean is necessary, as are sea communications.

Dear Mikhail, please explain why presence in the ocean and sea communications are necessary? Considering that in wartime this is physically impossible? (except for the presence of submarines in the oceans)

(Mongolor) Reply. A presence on the Moon has long been necessary, but we don't have the guts, and a presence in the ocean is necessary, but we don't have the guts... Sea communications are open for the Russian Federation until the first military clash, because the Russian fleet (no matter how much it builds) will not protect sea communications.

It's a pity the other two were cut.

Ushakov is the oldest + what happened to the hull when rescuing the Komsomol member and the second one is not much younger and yes it is a pity that they cut it but the Russian Federation is not the USSR and cannot support so many

This is good, but everything of any value needs to be modernized, including bringing the RK Varyag up to the level of the RK Marshal Ustinov... As the death of the RK Moskva showed, a ship that has not undergone serious modernization is simply a target.

yes, when I got Nakhimov repaired, I also thought that both Pyotr and Lazarev would go into repairs, but... it turned out that instead of 50 billion, they spent several times more... and Varyag repairs are also not cheap, and will it be effective? Vulcans are not eternal, and you can install no more than 2x8 calibers there, like on 1155, the ship is old and it is impossible to patch it up indefinitely, there is no point... Ustinov's modernization project is outdated, that is, a complete design is needed for one (two) ships, the ship and its systems are 35 years old, and Ustinov is even older... and reclassification into a frigate, that is, we will get 1155 but longer and with a more developed air defense (replacing Vulcans with air defense)

Here we have got a beautiful, but the last burp of a bygone era, today's requirements are completely different, so we need to build other ships that correspond to the times...

It is clear that if they want to sink it, they will sink it anyway. Remember Yamato... just to sink it, the Americans raised almost 400 planes... that's more than the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor with. Of course, with underdeveloped capitalism, you have to count money, and it's even better to periodically shoot embezzlers, preferably with their families... It's unlikely that anyone will steal anything after that, if during the shooting they stand in the same line with relatives and adult children...
