There will be fewer airliners: the Ministry of Industry and Trade has significantly reduced plans for the production of domestic aircraft engines
In the next two years, the domestic aviation industry will produce 128 engines for civil airliners instead of the previously planned 192. The Ministry of Industry and Trade explains the adjustment of the figures by a shift in production plans and the need to synchronize all links of the civil aviation development program.
The explanatory note of the relevant department states that in 2025, plans for the production of PD-8 engines were reduced by 16 units, PD-14 by 23 units, and PS-90 by one unit. A slightly smaller reduction in planned volumes is expected in 2026.
In total, 50 PD-8 engines, 35 PD-14 units and 43 PS-90 units will be manufactured over these two years. Based on the figures announced, it is possible to determine the number of new aircraft that Russian airlines will receive in the next two years, taking into account the reduction in plans. The specified number of power plants will be enough to manufacture 25 Superjets, 17 MS-21-310 aircraft and 21 Tu-214 aircraft (or 10 wide-body Il-96-300 aircraft). At the same time, it is necessary to take into account a certain number of engines for possible repair of existing airliners.
Thus, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has effectively reduced the plan for the production of domestic airliners. The department reports that this was done to synchronize with the Comprehensive Program for the Development of the Civil Aviation Industry (CPCA) until 2030. It is claimed that the early delivery of engines ahead of schedule is inappropriate. It is planned to make up for lost time in 2027-2030.
