Special Purpose Motorcycles: Kalashnikov Prepares New Equipment for Attack Troopers
The realities of the SVO dictate new conditions for manufacturers of weapons and military equipment in Russia. The Kalashnikov Concern highly appreciated the experience of using motorcycles by our attack aircraft and developed new models taking into account the accumulated experience.
The defense concern's information resources report that the new electric combat motorcycle (BME) is already being tested in Russian units in the border areas of the SVO zone.
The BME demonstrated a number of characteristics that are important in combat conditions: fast movement, maneuverability, lightness, relative silence, low visibility, no glow in thermal devices, the ability to evade drones and other weapons
– says the Kalashnikov press release.
The concern's general director, Alan Lushnikov, noted that some types of equipment, which were previously considered only auxiliary, have now become more in demand due to their tactical advantages.
In the future, the Russian Armed Forces may receive other models of motor vehicles for the frontline from the concern. Kalashnikov is upgrading existing models and creating new types of bikes to meet the current requirements of the military. Among other things, the concern is working on a motorcycle with a hybrid engine that could be used when there is no possibility of recharging the batteries.
