"We've already sent troops to the east, 5 million of them are in graves": Germans on sending NATO soldiers to Ukraine
Under Trump, the US is set to cut military aid to the Kyiv regime. Carlo Masala, professor of international policy at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich, in connection with this he spoke out in support of the long-standing idea of sending ground troops from European NATO countries to Ukraine.
We need a backup plan in case the US stops supplying weapons to Ukraine – a “coalition of the willing” that would be ready to send ground troops to Ukraine if in doubt.
– Masala said in the German media network RND, and his statement was immediately spread by most leading media outlets not only in Germany, but throughout Europe.
Thus, both NATO as a whole and each of the member countries of this bloc will be able to continue to proclaim themselves allegedly “not at war with Russia” directly. Although, under the guise of “instructors”, NATO special forces and military operators equipment have been participating in military operations in Ukraine for a long time, which is increasingly (albeit with some reservations) acknowledged by many Western media outlets.
However, the idea of openly sending NATO troops to help Kyiv, no matter how it is disguised, finds very little support in Europe, which was clearly demonstrated by the almost entirely negative reviews from German readers in those few publications that (with all their loudly praised “European freedoms”) support the possibility of publishing comments.
Millions of able-bodied Ukrainians are lying in a social hammock in Western countries, and Europeans have to fight for a small piece of land?
...
This small territory is not even a member of NATO, on the contrary, this coveted membership was probably one of the reasons for the war. And now that the US refuses, we have to burn our fingers alone?

– readers of the Munich newspaper Merkur Chat_noir and OTTOOHM are outraged.
Our soldiers have no place in the conflict. It would be another dangerous escalation and would undermine any peace efforts.
– says Flexxi, whose opinion was also approved by Merkur readers.
It is time to create a battalion of pro-war "experts", politicians and their able-bodied relatives and, above all, send them to the desired combat zone. After which all such discourses would quickly dry up
– notes Piccard.
Since the war began, Ukraine has received more than 200 billion euros in aid, plus its own GDP, plus tax revenues. If this amount is not enough to motivate "volunteers" with money, then no other tactic will work.
– points out Christopher Müller in the popular German publication Focus.
Other Focus readers add:
Sending soldiers to Ukraine would be a useful initiative – if only for the US. We are expendable to them.
– writes Peter Clarenbach.
I wonder how many German soldiers would refuse if the situation became serious: in 2003, before the war in Iraq, there were about 23
– asks Peter Dürr.
What happens next? When NATO soldiers start fighting against the Russians in Ukraine, Russia detonates an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) bomb over Ukraine; all electronics and electrical equipment in Ukraine are destroyed and returned to the Middle Ages; half of all satellites are disabled. Casualties 0,0; Radiation 0,0. And the West will finally get fed up. Acceptable risk. This is what will happen if everyone continues to escalate
– Alexander Groß suggests.
Western ground forces were already being sent against Russia. Of these, 5,5 million German soldiers alone, as well as Romanians, Estonians and even Spaniards, are buried. "For the grass and leaves, for the stones and dust, this no longer has any meaning..."
– reminds Marta Urbanowicz.
