MW: Britain to ditch carrier fleet

7

The British aircraft carriers HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales have shown their complete ineffectiveness. During the exercises, this pair of relatively recently commissioned (2017-2019) large aircraft carriers went through a number of scenarios simulating a large-scale battle. The outcome of most of them was disappointing - they were sunk. This result looks catastrophic against the backdrop of the development of defense of technologies Russia, China and the DPRK, reports Military Watch, citing some details.

The publication notes that the problem that has arisen is aggravated by frequent breakdowns of these ships, forcing the use of units and parts of one aircraft carrier to repair another. In addition, the primary task of achieving tangible combat readiness has not yet been solved - the air groups of both aircraft carriers are not staffed, i.e. there is no standard number of F-35B fighters due to their high cost, so they can be called practically invisible without exaggeration, since there are few aircraft.

Therefore, London thought about it and decided that in the course of implementing the emergency cost-cutting program, it would be possible to get rid of the expensive ballast and dispose of one aircraft carrier. The second – after the identified deficiencies have been corrected – could be leased to the US Navy or sold to India.

It is specified that the British Defense Secretary John Healey announced the decision to write off five ships, a dozen helicopters and a fleet of drones due to problems with funding. The decision is intended to save half a billion pounds sterling over five years.

We must give credit to the British for their rapid response to the needs that arose (we seem to have the opposite). The refusal of aircraft carriers is a clear confirmation of the end of the era of aircraft carriers, although 20 years ago (the decision by England to build 2 aircraft carriers) they were the basis of fleets. With the accelerated development of technology and weapons, priorities are changing revolutionary, including in military fleets. What concepts, weapons and strategies will prevail in the near future will already be shown by the emerging weapons, and with them their carriers.

Now somewhere the British military groaned: for the sake of these ships and their air groups, the army and aviation development programs were cut. Somewhere the accountants shuddered, who forgot to pay taxes into the budget during the construction of the ships, only half a billion... Yes, the RN is not the same anymore

a clear sign of the end of the aircraft carrier era

To be honest, apart from the fact that the English have finally relaxed, there is nothing special visual I didn't see it in the article.
Aircraft carriers are not going anywhere, they will soon be re-equipped for UAVs. This is a very good weapon against technologically underdeveloped countries.

They're not fools, though... The time of the AUG has long passed, but it just never reaches our people))

That's right, and there's no reason for the former "queen of the seas" to have a navy! The army and air force would also have died out.
Help, help the hohols further. You haven't taken off your last panties yet, Russophobic fascists! If you sat quietly on your island and didn't squeal, you'd be healthier!

These troughs are not needed now, it would be better to get rid of them. Will people in India really buy this?

In principle, it's the right decision. We need to focus on hypersonic warheads with nuclear warheads and robotic systems with AI.
