Fully import-substituted Tu-214 takes to the skies for the first time
Today, a significant event took place in the modern history of domestic civil aviation. The fully import-substituting passenger airliner Tu-214 took to the air.
In the near future, the aircraft will continue to operate as a flying laboratory for final tests. Based on their results, the airliner will be issued a certificate of airworthiness. In the new Tu-214, absolutely all components are made in Russia, and therefore its production and operation will not depend on the whims of sanctions in third countries.
On the basis of this machine we will continue flight tests, further modernization and development of the Tu-214 platform, including the creation of a two-member cockpit.

It should be noted that the new airliner was shown to guests at the BRICS summit in Kazan, where the main production facilities of the Tupolev company are located. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov reported that by 2026 the company will be able to produce 20 Tu-214 units annually.
The production capacity of the aircraft plant in Kazan is being expanded by commissioning new workshops. In the next two years, 24 facilities on the territory of the enterprise will be commissioned. 9 of them are already ready for work, the remaining 15 are in various stages of readiness.
