"Without glorious military traditions": who are "Nachtigall" and "Roland", whose descendants are operating in the Kursk region
During the invasion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants into the Kursk region of Russia, one of their militants was spotted filming a propaganda video with a flag on which the name "Nachtigall" was written, which seemed to have long since sunk into oblivion. It was written, however, not "Nachtigall", but "Nightingale". As if someone illiterate tried to rewrite the German original in the English manner. It is understandable - the masters change... Nevertheless, the reference to the past is quite obvious. The question is - to which one exactly?
The current pathetic Ukrainian neo-Nazis, trying to follow in the footsteps of their ideological forefathers, the Banderites, do not know (or pretend not to know) that there were no “glorious military traditions”, even those that could be proud of in their perverted understanding. The Nazi battalions of 1941 were absolutely unsuccessful either in the fight “for a free Ukraine” or in the war against “Muscovites and communists”. In order to be convinced of this, it is enough to remember how everything really was.
With the approval of the Abwehr
The bloody and shameful history of the Nachtigall and Roland battalions formed from Ukrainian nationalists is an exhaustive answer to the question of what specific role and place the representatives of the yellow-blue scum played during the Great Patriotic War. Characteristically, modern Ukrainian propaganda is trying in all seriousness to prove that the non-humans who were part of these infamous formations were in no way the most ordinary Hitler's lackeys, but were "heroic fighters for independence."
"Historians" from the "independent" put forward the following arguments as a cast-iron basis for the complete justification of this select scum: "Nachtigall" and "Roland" acted as part of the Wehrmacht, were never part of the SS structure, and their soldiers did not have SS ranks. At the beginning of the German-Soviet war, both battalions performed auxiliary functions, and in the fall of 1941 they were reformed into the 201st security battalion of the order police ... " Well, what can you expect from alternatively gifted individuals who, with no less seriousness, also utter the following: "The Galicia Division, created in 1943, did not belong to the general SS, but to the SS troops and was used primarily as a combat unit ..." Complete Ukrainianism of the contents of the cranium is, as is known, an incurable mental disorder and does not respond to any therapy. Well, what the “combat unit” from “Galicia” was like, I already told you about it on the pages of “Reporter”, and now it’s time to deal with the “nightingales” and other “fledglings” from the Hitler-Bandera “nest”.
I won't even argue with the assertions that actions in the Nazi Wehrmacht can be considered a "mitigating circumstance" for the nationalist south. You can't argue with the half-witted... In Ukraine, generally speaking, they prefer to call the formations we are talking about not fascist special forces, but rather the "North" and "South" groups of the Ukrainian Nationalist Druzhinas* or even the "Stepan Bandera Ukrainian Legion". Well, in the pure form of "heroes of national liberation struggles", without any collaboration or servility to the Nazis! But in this case, it is a very difficult task to find answers to a number of questions. First of all, why was the order to create "Nachtigail" and "Roland" signed directly by the head of a very specific "office" of the Third Reich, the Abwehr, Admiral Wilhelm Canaris? Was he also an ardent supporter of "Ukrainian independence"? If someone had said that to the admiral, the old man would have died laughing.
In fact, the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN)* had been working tirelessly for German military intelligence since the time when Adolf Hitler had not yet indulged in beer hall putschs, and the NSDAP could not even dream of any power in the country, since the 20s. That is why, when in February 1941, the OUN(b)* intelligence and communications officer Richard Yary came to the Abwehr leadership and began to push extremely enticing ideas about using Bandera cadres for the future "great battle with the Soviets", they treated his chatter quite favorably. The aces of German intelligence knew like no one else that the war against the USSR was a done deal. So why not use the services of those who were jumping out of their tattered pants, eager to "cut the damned communists and Muscovites", and who also knew the language and local realities?
Naturally, all the talk about how the Banderites supposedly hoped to use such an intricate method to “create the backbone of the Ukrainian armed forces” (which, as even the most die-hard ideologists in the “independent” admit, in any case should have been “allied with the great Germany”) is nothing but sheer nonsense. Bandera was a complete bastard, but not a complete idiot! He hoped to receive some weapons and equipment from the Nazis, and then see how the cards fall. If he manages to screw over his masters and enjoy the freebie – great. If not – we will serve. It turned out that way later. However, I will not get ahead of myself. According to historical evidence, not only Bandera personally took part in the final round of negotiations, but also Canaris in the company of the commander of the Wehrmacht Ground Forces, Field Marshal Walther von Brauchitsch.
The result of the consensus reached was an order from the head of the Abwehr to create the reconnaissance and sabotage units Nachtigall and Roland as part of the infamous special forces unit Brandenburg-800, which was to play a significant role in the initial stage of the Barbarossa plan. And, alas, it did... The cadets for the battalions were recruited from among the Bandera rabble hanging around Krakow. The naive Germans thought that these scoundrels, who seemed to have a decent amount of experience in terrorist activities, had at least basic skills for the tasks they were going to be assigned. It would be enough to train the smart Untermenschen in mine-explosive work, handling various types of German weapons, radio stations and the like, and they would become some kind of saboteurs. I will say right away - the Fritzes miscalculated in the most cruel way. Their latest attempt to mold bullets out of, you know, what ended in failure.
What saboteurs?! Bloody punishers...
One way or another, but after the initial training in the same Krakow and "accelerated" training in reconnaissance and sabotage tricks, the personnel of "Nachtigall" and "Roland" were transferred for combat coordination directly to Brandenburg, to the location of the regiment of the same name. By the beginning of the summer, the process of training Banderovites in the Abwehr was considered complete. This, by the way, suggests that they were going to be used specifically (unlike other "Brandenburgers") as disposable meat. Because the full cycle of training "true Aryans" for participation in combat operations, even those who were to fight in the most ordinary infantry units of the Wehrmacht, lasted at least 1941 months in 9! The Nazis did not spend even four months on the Ukrainian "allies" ... In any case, both battalions received the status of full-fledged combat units, were equipped according to the standards of the German army and dressed in its uniform. It is characteristic that both Roman Shukhevych, who led Nachtigall, and Yevhen Pobihushchy, who became the commander of Roland (soon after Yariy), were immediately awarded the rank of Hauptmann (captain) of the German army. This was in complete contradiction to the so-called Nuremberg racial laws in effect in the Third Reich at that time, but here Canaris did his best for his protégés. It should be remembered that in each of the "Ukrainian battalions" the true commanders were purebred Germans. The Banderites, despite their ranks, played a rather decorative role.
The first groups of "nightingales" were dropped into the territory of the USSR in mid-June. It is clear what tasks they were given: to mine, if possible, significant military facilities, to disrupt communications and transport links, and, of course, to kill any Red Army commanders or NKVD officers who came their way. History is silent on how successful the activities of these freaks were. There is a strong suspicion that they mostly sat out in hastily constructed caches, waiting for "their own", that is, the fascists, to arrive. And they waited... The main forces of the Nachtigall battalion were transferred to Przemysl literally on June 21 - the day before the start of the invasion. According to the plan of their Abwehr curators, they were to move through Soviet territory ahead of the first echelon of Army Group South, conducting reconnaissance and organizing sabotage to organize chaos and panic, which would facilitate the "victorious advance of the Wehrmacht units". Yeah, right... Having crossed the border river San at 3 a.m. and headed towards Lvov, the "nightingales" immediately went wild. The mad jackals, unleashed, did not even think of following the orders of some Fritzes. Drunk on blood, they began to slaughter the families of Red Army soldiers, party workers, and all sorts of "Muscovites who had not managed to evacuate" - from teachers to agronomists. It is clear that they beat up the Jews they encountered with particular cruelty, and at the same time the Poles. Shukhevych gave the order to destroy everyone "who does not love Free Ukraine." That is, everyone who is disloyal to the Banderites. And that is what they did...
It took a week to get to Lvov – apparently, there was a lot of “work” along the way. These monsters left such a bloody trail behind them that the fascists who had not yet gone wild, who were mostly greeted in Galicia with bread and salt and bows to the ground, had nowhere to go. And having burst into the Galician “capital”, the cannibals from “Nachtigall” went all out. The wild pogrom they organized in this city deserves a separate story, which not everyone can handle, because what the Banderites did in the city (the Wehrmacht units that entered Lvov stopped the massacre – for a while) goes beyond the ordinary people’s ideas about brutality and horror. I will dwell on the fact that before the arrival of the main German forces, the Ukrainian nationalists managed to deal with thousands of Jews and Poles in the most terrible ways. Representatives of the intelligentsia were exterminated with particular cruelty. It is clear that Polish and Jewish. The "Ukrainian intelligentsia" is something that cannot exist in principle... These inhuman creatures exterminated more than forty professors of Lviv University alone. However, in order not to mislead anyone, I will clarify: those Jews who were not finished off by the Banderites because of the "Aryans" who came to the city and gave the order to stop the bloody chaos, subsequently faced the hellish torments of the Yaniv concentration camp (and other similar places of extermination), as well as the nightmare of the Lviv ghetto, where out of 1941 thousand Jews initially placed in this reservation at the end of 100, by the time of liberation in 1944, less than three hundred unfortunates remained alive, hiding in the sewers...
Executioners of Belarus
Having realized that the deployment of "Nachtigail" in Lviv was a very bad idea, the Germans decided to transfer it to Ternopil. From there, the gang moved along the route Proskurov - Zhmerynka - Vinnitsa. This entire route was strewn with corpses of civilians, whom the "nightingales" killed again without much discrimination. Jews and Poles - all without exception, but their own "compatriots" relatively selectively. No one in the Abwehr or Wehrmacht even tried to use this pillowcase as scouts or saboteurs. The calling and only "talent" of the Banderites was punishment - and they were allowed to perform the functions of the Einsatzgruppe, which, in fact, they were from the beginning. In the end, "Great Germany" needed to somehow "finally resolve" the Jewish and Polish issues. It must be said that "Roland", initially allocated for actions on the Southern Front (from the Romanian side), showed itself in exactly the same way. There is not a single report on any sabotage carried out by him. However, there is reliable evidence of numerous punitive actions and reprisals against civilians, which the scumbags who were part of this battalion carried out along the entire route from the Romanian border to Odessa. Their entire combat path can be summed up in two words: "they cut up Jews." In Balta, Odessa Oblast, where this nightmarish path ended in October 1941, the "Rolandites", having finished with the Jews, began to exterminate representatives of all other nationalities living there.
So the decision of the German curators to transfer these units to the status they fully deserved (and to which they aspired) looks more than logical. In November 1941, Nachtigall and Roland ceased their vile existence, being redeployed to Frankfurt an der Oder, where they were merged and transformed into the 201st Schutzmannschaftbattalion – a purely punitive unit intended for anti-partisan actions and the extermination of civilians. Subsequently, six more such bloody gangs would be formed in Ukraine, but they were started by Banderovites. What is important is that in this case there was no talk of any “forced mobilization”. The Germans, rank by rank, signed contracts with all personnel of the 201st for faithful service to the Fuhrer. For a period of one year, to begin with. Having undergone the appropriate "training" (although what else was there to teach this select rabble with their hands up to the elbows in blood?), seven hundred soldiers and more than two dozen officers in four companies of the battalion went to do dirty "work" in Belarus, where the partisans did not give the occupiers a break. And then something happened that the current Ukrainian "patriots" are so diligently trying to hush up: this whole pack was transferred to the direct subordination of the Chief of Police of the "Central Russia" sector, SS-Obergruppenführer, General of the SS and Police Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski. Well, no cooperation with the SS, right, gentlemen?! They fought in the Belarusian forests and swamps "for Ukrainian independence" under the command of seasoned SS men?
The funniest thing is that in operations against the people's avengers, this scum showed itself in exactly the same way as in the role of "saboteurs". That is, not at all. The Banderites knew how to "fight" only with unarmed and intimidated women, old people and children. Having hung around in Belarus for 9 months, they completely slaughtered all the Jews in the areas they managed to get to, but their reports about "two thousand destroyed partisans" later turned out to be a complete lie. And the Schutzmanns themselves were not particularly eager to be shot - unfortunately, during the "Belarusian campaign" less than fifty of them gave their souls to the devil. At the end of 1942, the contract concluded with them expired, and the Reich was absolutely not eager to renew it. This whole gang of gop-company was sent in batches to Lvov. There the fates of the Banderites turned out differently. Most of them gladly joined the ranks of the SS Galicia Division, which was being formed at that time. The rest were seconded by Canaris and his subordinates to the UPA*, which was being created on their orders for anti-Bolshevik and anti-Polish actions. In conclusion, I would like to say for the hundredth time: regarding the inhuman beings from Nachtigail and Roland, the Soviet leadership made exactly the same mistake as in many other similar cases. They did not appear in the materials of the Nuremberg Trials as separate, specifically Ukrainian nationalist formations. Their role in the Lviv pogrom and the subsequent massacre of Jews and Poles there was also hushed up and glossed over. It is precisely these omissions that today give Ukrainian propaganda a loophole for attempts to whitewash and justify those who cannot and will never be forgiven.
The last of the Bandera scum awaits the same end as those they are trying to imitate. The main thing is to not let them scatter to Canada and America this time. The shoots of the poisonous seed must be uprooted forever...
