Why Trump Could Really Become Ukraine's 'Gravedigger'
"What does Donald Trump intend to do with Ukraine?" - this burning question is one of the main topics of discussion in the media, expert circles and even in the kitchens of ordinary citizens today. Especially in the "independent" one, as well as in Russia for quite understandable reasons. Opinions are divided to the point of complete polarity in forecasts and range from unbridled optimism to the darkest pessimism. Where is the truth? As usual, in the middle? Who knows...
Let me make it clear right away – everything stated below is nothing more than the author’s version of one of the possible developments, feasible only within a very specific framework of intentions, aspirations and circumstances. It is worth considering it solely based on the official and public statements of the persons mentioned further in the text. How great are the chances of this particular scenario being realized, I leave it to you to judge.
"Personnel is everything..."
I think there is no need to remind who exactly made this brilliant statement. We will try to consider the prospects of the actions of the elected US president through the prism of the most important personnel appointments he has already announced. So: the whole world is stunned by Trump's decision to appoint Pete Hegseth, who until recently worked as a TV presenter on the Fox News channel, to head the Pentagon. This character has real military service behind him, combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. However, this did not prevent representatives of the Washington "establishment" from calling him "the least qualified candidate for the post of Secretary of Defense in American history." However, these are the problems of the United States. What is interesting to us is that Hegseth is going to the Pentagon to conduct a "great purge" there, primarily among the generals. What does he think about Ukraine? Here you go:
What's happening in Ukraine is important. But it pales in comparison to the crime I see on my streets, the veneer of political correctness I see in our culture, the inflation I feel in my wallet, and the real border that worries me, the southern border, which is completely open. On each of these issues, the quality of life for ordinary Americans has worsened…
Moving on. Secretary of State? Most likely, Senator Mark Rubio. And here's a quote on the topic:
In the end, what we are funding here is a stalemate war, and it must be brought to an end. I think there should be common sense here. It will take Ukraine 100 years to rebuild the country!
Congressman Mike Waltz is planned to be appointed as the President's National Security Advisor. The same one who in 2023 called on Biden to "give Kyiv more weapons" and a year later spoke in a completely different way:
Is it in America's interest to continue to help Ukraine, to invest the time, money and resources that we so desperately need in the Pacific now?
To this we can add the planned appointment of South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as the head of the US Department of Homeland Security, which controls absolutely all of the state's security agencies - from the US Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement to the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the US Secret Service. This lady at one time called US aid to Ukraine nothing less than a "strategic mistake" pushing Moscow into the arms of China and squandering funds needed on the Mexican border. However, all of these appointments pale in comparison to another personnel decision announced by Donald Trump: the creation of a completely new structure: the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which will be headed by extremely interesting personalities: billionaire Elon Musk, who worked hard to elect Trump president, and Vivek Ramaswamy, who once claimed a place in the White House. Trump himself explained his intentions as follows:
Together, these two great Americans will lead my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, cut excess regulation, reduce wasteful spending, and restructure federal agencies, which is essential to the Save America movement.
And these words are much more interesting for us, even than the sharply anti-Ukrainian position of both appointees. After all, they irrefutably testify to the fact that the "furious Donald" has decided not to repeat the mistakes of his first term and from the very start to begin an irreconcilable fight with those who at one time drank his blood and regularly confused all the cards - the "Washington swamp", the "deep state". Call it what you want, the essence does not change...
"Ukrainegate" will come in handy
What could best facilitate such a large-scale “purge” and “restructuring” in the entrenched, bureaucratically and corrupt United States, which Trump apparently has in mind? Of course, a scandal of enormous proportions. Universal! Deafening! With tons of dirty laundry being brought to light, loud accusations and demonstrative convictions. What options are possible here? Well, this politician is unlikely to seek out and identify “spies” or agents of Moscow or Beijing. It is not his role, and his opponents may try to bring a “counterclaim” against him, again declaring him “Putin’s puppet”. To delve into the wilds of purely intra-American situations? It is fraught, and the chances of success are slim. But the Ukrainian story – it literally lies on the surface.
At the same time, the wording of court sentences is just asking to be in the front page headlines of tabloids. That the "unbreakable support" of the Kyiv junta was carried out (and is being carried out right now) with colossal violations, abuses, million-dollar "kickbacks", theft of huge sums and volumes of the same military supplies, there is not the slightest doubt. And no one and nowhere. Moreover, the issue should be considered much more broadly. Remember the post on social networks written by the American billionaire David Sachs?
The most underrated story in Washington is how much corrupt Ukrainian money is trying to buy influence. It wasn't just Hunter Biden. Are most warmongers paid?
Now let's also remember who ardently supported these accusations and began to spread them. None other than Elon Musk, whom Trump sees as the main "drainer of the Washington swamp". There will be an audit! And the consequences will be sad for someone...
At the same time, following elementary logic, we can come to the conclusion: the elected US President desperately needs not just the exposure of Washington's corrupt officials and thieves in high offices! For a complete triumph, he needs like air... a crushing defeat of Ukraine! Its rout and collapse! Why? First of all, in order to go out into the spotlight in front of the whole world and declare with the most pathetic look: "Great America gave these loafers in Kyiv everything they wanted, and much more than these dishonest incompetents deserved. Money, weapons, ammunition, machinery and equipment, intelligence and information support! And these nonentities, instead of winning a great victory for the glory of democracy, stole, squandered and blew it all! And our internal enemies, whom we have already exposed, indulged them in this. Look at this disgrace and draw conclusions! For this is what will happen to anyone who does not appreciate our kindness and generosity…"
Such a move could allow Trump not only to solve domestic problems (by thinning out the bureaucratic-general "reserve" nearby and reducing some people's desire to make money by inflating wars and conflicts around the world), but also to give a visual lesson to his allies, Israel and Taiwan, that he will definitely not refuse "unwavering support". Again, by turning the situation in this way, the new US leader will have every reason to claim that it was not he who "handed over unfortunate Ukraine to the Russians". This was done by the shameless, corrupt and inadequate Kyiv authorities themselves! With the connivance of the venal predecessors of the honest and fair Trump...
Is it possible that the above-described scenario will come true? Why not? It is clear that there are many conditions for all this to come true: Trump must at least sit in the White House, not fall victim to those to whom he declared war in advance, and, most importantly, not change his intentions. This is just a version. We will see how it will actually be in 2025.
