Despite restrictions: Chemezov called the MS-21 the most “sanctioned” aircraft in the world

Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov demonstrated the successes of import substitution in the Russian Federation during a meeting with MAI students using the example of the MS-21 and SJ-100 airliners. Many parts of these aircraft received high-quality domestic analogues.

Our MS-21 is perhaps the most “sanctioned” civilian aircraft in the history of aviation

– noted the head of the state corporation.

Thus, the official reported that when upgrading the airliner, the designers abandoned the Pratt & Whitney PW1431G engine made in the USA. The Russian side also found a replacement for foreign composite materials and more than 80 systems and units. In addition, domestic composite materials are used to manufacture the MS-21 wing, which has unique characteristics.

Along with this, Chemezov reported that prototypes of the flying machine are being prepared for air testing.

It is important to note that the SJ-100 will be entirely Russian, including domestic PD-8 engines instead of French ones. Sergey Chemezov noted that as part of the work on this aircraft, about two hundred foreign components were replaced, including spark plugs, filters, modular repair of the SaM146 engine electronic control unit, and much more.

And in the USSR all the planes were originally

the most "sanctioned" aircraft in the world

initially, since the Union did not rely on an uncle from abroad, but relied on its own strength. And nothing. Excellent aircraft were produced in the Union, both transport Il-76, Il-86, Il-96, Tu-214, An-124, and combat MiG-29, Su-27, and no one complained about the horror of sanctions imposed against us, because they relied on their own industry. And when in the 90s they relied on Western industry for the sake of kickbacks for the nouveau riche, that's when sanctions were imposed in this way, and we ourselves against ourselves. And all this came to light after 2014/2022. And we were forced to restore everything. And gradually, we ourselves slowly began to remove the sanctions that we imposed against our own industry in the 90s. And I hope that we are smart enough to continue to bend the same line in benefit of their industry, just as they do in all developed countries of the world. And not try to be "junior partners" as is happening on the Black Continent in the worst African traditions, as we had in the 90s. This was a path to nowhere.

So why was it necessary to design the "most sanctioned aircraft in the world" in the first place? Haven't you had enough of the "Superjet"?
    They wanted to "move" Boeing?
And what were you left with?
