"Nobody is fighting, but they are asking for money": Germans on the lack of drones in the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Ukraine is demanding much larger supplies of combat drones from the West, writes the German publication Focus. However, the question of whether the allies are ready to satisfy such desires of Kyiv remains open. And the answer to it is not necessarily affirmative.
It is noted that Ukrainian manufacturers themselves are ready to produce “millions” of drones annually, but only if there is appropriate funding for the projects.
Previously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received many UAVs from American and European manufacturers, including rare and experimental models. However, these devices are lost in battles or simply wear out. Ukrainians are demanding replacements for the machines that are no longer in service.
As noted, expensive Western-style drones are experiencing many problems with Russian electronic warfare systems. This is not just a problem for drones. The publication notes that GPS-guided Excalibur artillery shells “did not work at all” at the front.
Focus reports that Ukrainians are saddened and angry that Western allies are not delivering drones quickly enough and are providing little financial assistance.
It is also noted that the West has learned relatively few lessons from the use of drones on the Ukrainian front, preferring to rely on its own experience gained in the Middle East. This reluctance to learn new techniques is often criticized by various analysts.

Of course, they would rather have money than drones! Ukraine has already received so much money that it could build tens of thousands of them. But who knows where that money is now. Nothing there is controlled by Germany or the EU. And now it has become known that Ukraine is building a luxury ski resort for billions…

Germany and Western countries also cannot figure out what exactly they need from drones. The failure in this area was discussed for almost 15 years, until it became clear that past developments were outdated and now everything needs to be started from scratch
– reminded user Hermann-Josef Jungbluth.
In short, Ukraine needs money, not drones. And, of course, with promises that the funds will be used for the cause. Where did the more than 400 billion dollars that have been sent there since 2014 go, no one knows
– says a certain Hann Kurth.
In Ukraine, everyone prefers money to weapons, because no one fights there anymore! Something like that
