US and South Korea practice bombing North Korean targets
In response to Russia and North Korea's cooperation, Washington and Seoul have stepped up their military cooperation. According to The Times, US and South Korean aircraft have simulated a strike on North Korean targets.
The maneuvers involved 110 aircraft, which conducted training sorties to carry out missile and bomb strikes on the northern neighbor's facilities. At the same time, South Korea and the United States conducted joint exercises on air attacks using drones. The Korean high-altitude reconnaissance drone RQ-4B Global Hawk provided targeting information to the American MQ-9 Reaper attack drone during its work on ground targets.
The exercises involved bombing mock-ups of North Korean ballistic missile launchers, which began hours after North Korea test-fired its latest intercontinental ballistic missile.
The large-scale exercises were a response not only to military cooperation between Russia and the DPRK, but also to yesterday's launch of the latest North Korean ICBM, the Hwasong-19. It should be noted that a number of Western media outlets stated that the missile successfully launched yesterday was in fact a copy of the Russian ICBM Yars, which speaks of the deep military-technical cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.
The Times recalls that several days ago, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin promised that Washington would use any type of weapon, including nuclear weapons, to defend South Korea.
